Gov. Fashola declares Today June 12 public holiday




Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola,  approved Thursday, June 12, 2014 as public vacation in urban center to commemorate the June twelve 1993 presidential election that was won by Late Chief Moshood Abiola.


The approval was contained during a circular signed  by the top of Service urban center State, Mrs Oluseyi Williams. The circular reads in part;
“In commemoration of June 12, 1993 as significant in the actualization of Democracy in Nigeria, it is hereby notified for general information that His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, the Governor of Lagos State, has approved Thursday, 12th June, 2014 as a work free day.”
I'm sure Lagos state workers will be happy to hear this. Work will resume on Friday, June 13th.

Gov. Fashola Reiterates Need To State Police.




The Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) has reiterated the need for state police in Nigeria.
He said this at the occasion of 11th Executive/legislative parley organized by ministry of political and legislative powers Bureau, held between 8th - 10th may, 2014, at Golden Tulip Hotel, Festac, Lagos.
Fashola urged the representatives of the state at the National Assembly to take urgent step, in order to bring collaborative capacity to policing and law enforcement.

No Indigent student will be Denied Education in Lagos State. Gov. Fashola



Lagos State Government has offered to help any new student of the State’s University who stands the risk of losing his/her admission as a result of indigene and any current student who may have problem coping with the fees due to the same reason.

The government explaining its principle of “No child must be left behind” said, it has since the introduction of new fees regime in the Lagos State University three years ago consecutively doubled its budget for scholarship for its residents to enable indigent students have access to education. This is in addition to providing bursary award to all indigenes in higher institutions across the country.

Gov. Fashola Appoints Kasim acting CEO Ibile Holdings



Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola has approved the appointment of Fauziyyah Kikelomo Kasim as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Ibile Holdings Limited. The appointment takes immediate effect.

Lagos governor, Babatunde Fashola, Approves The Reopening Of LASU




Lagos governor, Babatunde Fashola, has approved the reopening of the Lagos State University (LASU) which had been shut down in the last four weeks following a protest by students over the closing of the school’s registration portal by the authorities as well as hike in school fees.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Mr Hakeem Bello, and made available to newsmen on Friday in Ikeja, the governor said the reopening was in the interest of students and in compliance with the recommendation of the state House of Assembly Ad-hoc Committee on the recent disturbances in the school.

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) on Tuesday hosted corporate bodies, high networth people and other opinion leaders in the society to another breakfast meeting and Corporate Social Responsibility Awards under the Support Our Schools Initiative, charging the Corporate and Individual sponsors to consider also investing in the training of teachers.

The Governor who spoke at the City Hall, Lagos, venue of the annual education forum added that the sponsors should take a closer look at teachers in certain schools as well as all schools and the classes the same way it has been done in the “Adopt A School” initiative.

Gov. Fashola Formally Introduces Dangote Refineries and Petrochemical company to Lekki Free Trade Zone

A major milestone was achieved Sunday in the quest to speed up development in the Lekki Free Trade Zone as the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) formally introduced President of the Dangote Group of Companies and arrowhead of the proposed Dangote Refineries and Petrochemical Company in the zone, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, to the host communities signaling the formal takeoff of the multi-billion Naira investment at the zone.

Gov. Fashola Underscores need for Continuous Training and Legal Scholarship for Legal professionals

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) on Friday joined other notables in the legal profession to honour a Judge of the Lagos High Court, Justice Oludotun Adefope-Okojie, at her book launch, re-emphasizing the need for continous training and legal scholarship for members of the Bar and the Bench.

The Governor who spoke at the Main Auditorium of the Nigeria Law School, Victoria Island at the launch of the book titled: “Civil Litigation-A Quick Reference Guide to Substantive Law and Procedure”, added that it was only through legal scholarship that reported cases of conflicting judgments such as those highlighted by the book reviewer, Professor Yemi Osinbajo could be prevented.

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, on Saturday, said  he would vote for his Edo State counterpart, Adams Oshiomhole, if he decides to run for the Presidency. Speaking in Benin City at a youth summit organised by the Edo State Government, with the theme, ‘Nigeria’s centenary: Defining the issues and setting agenda for the future of our youths,’ Fashola said, “If Governor Adams Oshiomhole decides to run as President of this country, he will have my vote. He is the kind of leader that Nigeria needs. I say that because, I have spent five memorable years of my life in Benin City as an undergraduate and as a youth corps member and they are very fond memories that I hold dear in my heart today.

Gov. Fashola Blames Presidency over Delay in Fuel Subsidy Investigation



Lagos state governor Babatunde Fashola has expressed displeasure over the investigations into the fuel subsidy scandal blaming the president for the delay. According to him, the investigation should have come earlier. Fashola who made the remarks at the two-day Kuramo Conference, 2012 themed: ‘The Global Common Wealth’ held in Lagos, said that the executive failed to do its job on the fuel subsidy scandal. He stressed that the legislature should not have been the first to look at  the report but rather, the executive has the responsibility to conduct investigation on the scandal. According to him, anyone found to be implicated during the investigation should have been dismissed immediately.
