London Court Freezes Ubah’s Assets Worldwide

This is just as the feud between Ubah and the Chairman of Coscharis, Mr. Cosmos Maduka, has taken a new twist as the Capital Oil boss Wednesday sent a petition to the Inspector-General of Police (IG), Mohammed Abubakar, alleging threats to his life. He demanded the arrest of Maduka over the alleged threat.
The order by the UK court, which was granted sequel to an application by Access Bank Plc, is aimed at preserving the assets of the respondents pending the determination of the suit brought before it by the bank.
The bank had alleged that Ubah and his company had fraudulently diverted the petroleum products it financed under the joint venture agreement between Capital Oil and Coscharis Motors Limited. Also restrained alongside Ubah and Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited, are Rofos Navigation Limited, Xifias Navigation Limited, Heli Navigation Limited and Tutbury Maritime Limited.

LAGOS – Nigerian banks under the auspices of the bankers committee will soon commence a bio-metric data capture for all customers in the banking sector. Managing Director of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC, Mr. Umaru Ibrahim, disclosed this yesterday at the ongoing seminar for finance journalists in Dutse, Jigawa state capital.

Nigeria 2nd Most Corrupt Nation —Gallup Poll
The perception of Nigeria’s government seems to have crashed further, with most Nigerians rating their country’s leadership as the second most corrupt in the world, a Gallup poll just made public has revealed.
Gallup, in its first-ever report on “Global States of Mind: New Metrics for World Leaders.”, said 94 percent of Nigerians believe there is widespread corruption in government.

Husband Catches Wife Having Séx With 16-Year-Old Student
A suspicious husband used the GPS capability on his wife’s cellphone to find the 38-year-old teacher having séx with a 16-year-old boy. North Demands Death Penalty For Corruption
Ahead of Thursday’s zonal constitutional conferences, foremost northern political group, the Arewa Consultative Forum, has recommended capital punishment for corruption. At present, China is the only notable country where corruption attracts capital punishment.In its proposal submitted to the National Assembly, a copy of which was obtained by one our correspondents in Kaduna on Tuesday, the ACF rued the destructive impact of corruption on the country and said that anybody found guilty of corruption should be killed.

Policemen Tortured, Shot Me Within Lagos Police HQ –Mechanic
A 30-year-old mechanic, Oladele Adebanjo, has accused the policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Lagos State Police Command of torturing and shooting him while he was in detention.

Why Applicants Are Refused US Visas
Vice-Consul, United States Consulate, Lagos, Mr. Christopher Richardson, says many applicants are refused American visas because they have not visited other countries.
Richardson spoke at a seminar on the ‘American Visa Regime: the role of lawyers’ organised by the Immigration Lawyers Forum in Lagos on Tuesday.
He said, “The majority of the visa applicants prefer the US as their first outing. This creates doubt, especially when the applicant has not visited any other countries before.”
