Part 1: Auchi Bank Robbery Operations "How The Attack Was Hatched"

It was a well planned operation  by  bandits. The dare-devil robbers, numbering about 50, stormed Auchi, Edo State, in  a bus and three Camry cars loaded with dynamites and bombs. They unleashed mayhem on  three new generation banks and one old generation bank. As it seemed, the robbers were familiar with Auchi, buttressing the argument by many that they may have been in town for about two weeks plotting this attack. They started the attack around  6:30 pm when security operatives were either praying in the mosques or handing over to those on night shift.

The state police commissioner said he could not put a figure on the number of deaths.

“I don’t have details yet but we have deployed security personnel to the village to ascertain the nature and extent of the attack,” he said.

He declined to say if the attackers were members of the extremist Boko Haram, which has been blamed for a string of deadly attacks in several parts of Yobe State and neighbouring Borno State.
