JAMBS should be labelled terrorists — Ekhomu

In this interview with ALLWELL OKPI, the President of Association of Industrial Security and Safety Operators of Nigeria, Dr. Ona Ekhomu, said JAMBS’s latest act has taken terrorism to another level
JAMBS claimed it has executed the seven foreign hostages it kidnapped in Bauchi. What are the implications of this?
I don’t have independent verification of this news except for what the terrorists have said and posted on the Internet. But if they have actually killed the foreign hostages as they have claimed, then it means terrorism in Nigeria is going to another level.
Do you think group is becoming more dangerous than Boko Haram?

Since 2009 July when Boko Haram started its terrorist attacks on security agents, churches and public buildings, terrorism has developed steadily to this point. Now Boko Haram has gone into franchising or has developed splinter groups, making them more difficult to control.
JAMBS seems to be more focused on kidnapping foreigners
Yes. They claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of a Briton, Chris McManus, and his Italian colleague Franco Lamolinara, in Kebbi and killed them after a rescue attempt failed. They also claimed responsibility for the German engineer, Mr. Raupach Fritz Edgar, who was kidnapped and killed in Kano.
What are the implications of these attacks on foreigners in Nigeria?
There won’t be intervention in terms of any country coming to fight Nigeria because of this. These people were seized due to terrorist activities. We might only see diplomatic protests. The governments of these countries might just tongue-lash our ambassadors. And foreigners will now think twice before coming to Nigeria.
What is the way forward?
The first thing is that these people have to be recognised as the terrorists that they are. Enough of this talks of poverty being the cause of terrorism. In this interview with ALLWELL OKPI, the President of Association of Industrial Security and Safety Operators of Nigeria, Dr. Ona Ekhomu, said JAMBS’s latest act has taken terrorism to another level
