Pastor Wilson Akubo In Court For Alleged Dangerous Driving, Causing Death

A 49-year-old Pastor, Wilson Akubo, of Family Worship Centre, Wuye, Abuja, was on Friday arraigned before a Wuse Zone 6 Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for alleged dangerous driving and causing death. Police prosecutor Jeremiah Elijah told the court that the crime was committed on Jan. 13 on Musa Yar’adua Way, Abuja, when the accused drove in a dangerous manner, resulting in an accident.

Elijah said the accused drove in such a dangerous manner that he lost control and veered off the road. “The car knocked down and instantly killed a 25-year-old man identified as Ogochukwu  Ndubuisi, who was standing by the road side,’’ the prosecutor said.

Accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.  The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abubakar Baba-Shani, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in like sum. Baba-Shani said the sureties must reside and have a fixed address within the court’s jurisdiction.  He also ordered that the sureties must be civil servants and must each present three months pay slips to the court.
Baba-Shani adjourned the case to March 4 for further hearing.
