Political developments within the past two weeks in Ogun State have shown that the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led government is fast coming to the reality of an impending electoral loss with the nose-diving ratings and dwindling fortunes of his administration and the entire APC structure in the State especially after the party lost election in Ekiti.  Unarguably, this has made the Senator-Governor to, with immediate effect,  order execution of policies and ideas which his immediate  predecessor in office, Otunba Gbenga Daniel had earlier drawn his attention to and put to him as posers at different fora.

Security Agents Kill Boko Haram Member in Kaduna



SECURITY agents in Kaduna, on Sunday, shot and killed a suspected Boko Haram member who was said to have engaged the uniformed men in a gun fight. The security operatives, acting on information that the insurgent had escaped arrest in Maiduguri, Borno State, invaded Kinkino in Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where the suspect wasresiding. According to eyewitness, “the security operatives arrived at the area around 2.00 a.m and within minutes, the area was surrounded and their leader moved to the main door and ordered the occupants to come out. 

“Sensing danger, the suspects, said to be two in number, took a position and opened fire on the security personnel. The exchange of gunfire was said to have lasted for some hours and caused panic among the people.”
According to a security source, “the suspect tried to escape but was shot.”

Redeemers varsity student kills dad at Redemption Camp



The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old undergraduate, Tolani Ajayi, of Redeemers University along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, for allegedly killing his father, Mr. Charles Ajayi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
The incident, according to the police, occurred on Tuesday, July 3, at their residence on Canaanland Street within the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s Redemption Camp.  Tolani was said to have slaughtered his father with a knife and later butchered him with a cutlass.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Tolani afterwards allegedly packed his father’s remains in a box and dragged them into the bush within the camp.

63 abducted Borno women escape from B’Haram



Sixty-three women abducted by the Boko Haram Islamic sect from Kummabza village in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State two weeks ago have escaped from their kidnappers, security sources said on Sunday. The women, the security sources said, had reunited with their families.

Some witnesses said that their unexpected freedom was facilitated when the insurgents left them in the camp to embark on an operation where they attacked military formations on Friday.
This, the sources said, presented the women with an opportunity to flee from their abductors.
It will be recalled that 70 women were allegedly abducted by insurgents from Kummabza village two weeks ago.

Bamidele cautions Fayemi on Ekiti poll



Chairman, House Committee on Legislative Budget and Research, Opeyemi Bamidele, has cautioned the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, to stop attributing his loss at the June 21 governorship election to his refusal to distribute money and bags of rice to the electorate.
According to him, “stomach infrastructure” theory advanced by the governor’s team could send a wrong signal about the Ekiti people to the outside world.
Bamidele, in a statement by his media aide, Ahmed Salami, in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, said the theory was unfounded as it did not influence the electorate against him.

Impeachment: Nyako declares public holiday



The move to impeach Adamawa State Governor, Alhaji Murtala Nyako, took a dramatic turn on Sunday as the governor declared Monday and Tuesday as work-free days in the state.
The governor’s opponents in the state House of Assembly said Nyako’s action was an attempt to frustrate his impeachment.

The governor was said to have played a fast one on his opponents following indications that the Acting Chief Judge of the state, Justice Ambrose Mammadi, might inaugurate on Monday (today) the seven-member panel he set up on Friday to investigate the allegations of gross misconduct levelled against the governor and his deputy, James Ngilari.  The lawmakers accused Nyako of mischief, vowing that the governor and his deputy could not stop the state acting chief judge.

I’m ready for PDP forces – Aregbesola



Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has said that he is prepared to face Peoples Democratic Party forces in the August 9 governorship election, insisting that he will win the election by popular votes.
Aregbesola, who spoke in Osogbo, on Saturday, warned the PDP against rigging the governorship election. According to him, the PDP does not have the support of the masses like him. When asked how his party would react if there was an attempt by security forces to restrict its leaders and members, Aregbesola said nobody could stop the people of Osun from exercising their civic right.

Muslims want Sultan to lead dialogue with B’Haram



SOME Islamic elite have written to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, asking him to lead the dialogue with members of the terrorist Islamic sect, Boko Haram. The elite, writing under the aegis of Concerned Muslim Professionals, told the Sultan, who is also the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, to use his position and engage members of Boko Haram in dialogue that would lead to ceasing of the sect’s campaign of killings.

Flood at Brazil and Argentina border: more than 20 000 victims



The number of victims of severe flooding in the border region between Brazil and Argentina exceeded 20 thousand people, reported the Civil Defense Office of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul on Sunday. According to the Globovision channel, two people were killed in the municipalities of Arroyo del Tigre and Uruguayana, another one is missing, reports RIA Novosti.

SAD: Police Van Chase Okada Rider & His Passengers To demise




 This sad incident happened this afternoon,  an Okada rider and his 2 male passengers were crushed to death this afternoon at Awoyaya bus-stop  over the Lekki-Epe Express way in Lagos as they were being chased with a police van. While trying to flee from law enforcement who were chasing them to seize their bike for riding on the express, the Okada, that was in top speed, collided with a BRT bus that crushed them to death. In accordance with an eye-witness, area boys gathered and burnt the law enforcement van. The army had to be brought to calm the situation.

Sad story to report but GhanaCelebrities.Com is reliably informed about the death of hip life artiste Castro the Destroyer who drowned in Ada together with his girlfriend. The bodies have not yet been retrieved.

Castro and her girl friend are feared dead at a place close to the Ada estuary. Castro and his close friend and fellow hit maker, Asamoah Gyan of the black stars were weekending in the Ada area.

Castro and his girlfriend were on a jesky (Jet Ski)  and she fell into the water.

Kano state Government seeks death sentence for alleged killer child-bride



Kano state Government has filed a fresh charge of culpable homicide punishable by death against 14 year old child bride, Wasila Tasiu, who in April 2014 allegedly poisoned her 35 year old husband, Umar Sani and three of his friends in Kano, 17 days after she was forced to marry him. According to  Vanguard, the fresh charge was filed following an outcry by judicial practitioners who were against a juvenile court handling the trial of the 14 year old girl.
 

Man stabs himself to death as his girlfriend dumped him

A 33-year-old graduate of Tai Solarin University of Education, Oluwatosin Otaiku stabbed himself to death on Saturday, in Onikolobo area of Abeokuta Ogun state on Saturday after his fiancee, one Oluwatoyin Olaogun after his girlfriend dumped him.

The American CNN TV channel has revealed a shocking lack of geographical knowledge. A CNN report about self-defense fighters' pullout from the towns of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk in southeastern Ukraine carried a map locating Slavyansk in the western part of Crimea.

Covering Ukrainian troops' seizure of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, both situating in Ukraine's southeast Donetsk region, the CNN mislocated Slavyansk, "moving" it to Crimea which has recently become part of Russia.

The tenure of Alhaji Aminu Maigari as President, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) came to an abrupt end yesterday following the dissolution of the board by an extra ordinary congress of stakeholders and delegates of Nigerian football.

Simultaneously, an angry Federal Government demanded explanation from the dissolved NFF on the disbursement of N2.591billion allocated to it for football administration in the country.
Maigari was arrested on Friday by operatives of the Directorate of Security Services (DSS) on his return from the World Cup competition in Brazil over allegations of financial mismanagement, but was released afterwards.

It was a pathetic sight at the 13th Brigade Premises of the Nigerian Army in Calabar, Cross River State on Saturday as thousands of youths converged to write the examination for recruitment into the Nigeria Army.
Applicants crowded the field in the premises and spilled over to the pavements of adjoining Barracks and Marian Roads.
Even when it started raining heavily, the applicants could not leave the field as they waited to be screened to write the examination.

Double misfortune has befallen Okorie Orie, a native of Ibenda Effium in Ohaokwu Local Gov-ernment Area of Ebonyi State, whose son was killed by an unrepentant gang of robbers that had robbed him 10 years earlier.
A decade ago, 37-year-old Uchenna Okereke, led six other robbers to rob Okorie Orie, dispossessing him of millions of naira and successfully escaped. But the victim was able to recall the face of Okereke and he correctly identified him to the police, who acted on the information and arrested him. During interrogation, he revealed the identity of the other six members of his gang. They were all tried, convicted and slammed with 10-year jail term, which they served and were subsequently released.

A 41-year-old suspected cultist, kidnapper and ritualist, Onwuzuruike Nwakaogwu, has confessed to his involvement in a cult group popularly called Dey-Well at Igwuruta village, Ikwerre Local Government area of Rivers State, just as he revealed the identity of the deceased whose skull was found with him as Victoria.
The suspect claimed his efforts at getting money from the skull yielded fruit before his arrest as he said that it used to spew out N10, N20, N50 notes whenever he poured ‘kain kain’ (alcoholic drink) on the skull before reciting incantations.
