Update on the Underage boy locked up in Iyaganku cell in Ibadan.

Yesterday you guys read about the 14 year old boy locked up at Iyaganku Police Station in Ibadan. (If you missed it, read it here). Well, DSP. Olabisi Okuwobi-ilobanafor, Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Police Command, has written in to set the record straight.
See police account below....
It is quite unfortunate that many people have cast aspersions on the Nigeria Police Force without caring to know what actually happened. The boy, Rilwan Olaniyi was not detained on police orders or discretion. He was detained on court order. For the avoidance of doubt, when the unfortunate crime was committed by the boy last year 2013 (not 5 years as erroneously broadcast) the aggrieved parent of the deceased through their lawyer took the case to court without recourse to the police.

The Changing Face Of Ogun Politics

Written by Ayodele from Atan, Ijebu North East Local Government of Ogun State.
The Southwest geopolitical zone of the country is noted for its political elitism and clear-cut bearing on national issues. Its people are always, almost unequivocal in the choice of, not only their leaders, but, political parties and voting pattern. A cursory spool-back of political trends from the first republic to the present dispensation reveals a rather peculiar but factual mass movement of the people from one political party to the other as it suits their purposes: the First Republic was an all Action Group (AG) affair - what else with the enormous influence of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and his progressive-minded disciples?
Despite the national outreach of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in the second republic, the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) was the party to beat as it maintained its firm grip of the old Western Region in the so-called LOOBO States (Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Bendel and Ondo).

Graphic photos: Soldier pictured stabbing man to death in front of a crowd

A group of soldiers in the Central African Republic lynched a man they suspected was a rebel minutes after hearing the new president's promise to restore security at a ceremony to reinstate the divided country's armed forces.
About 20 uniformed soldiers accused a member of the crowd of having belonged to Seleka - the mostly Muslim rebel group that seized power in a coup last March, before stabbing him repeatedly until he was dead.  A soldier stamped on the lifeless body, which was then dragged nearly naked through the streets as residents looked on and took photographs.

Underage boy locked up in Iyaganku cell in Ibadan

Here is a story published on Linda's Blog sent to her by a man who claims he was recently locked up at a police station called Iyaganku Police Station in Ibadan. While there, he says he saw two boys significantly less than 16 years of age who've been locked up there for a couple of years. Personally we think that story shouldn't be left untold. We  know cases of those who have been imprisoned without the trial but to do the same to an underage is a whole new different level.
