Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Raji Fahola has assured citizens of the State of the determination of his administration to continuously live up to its responsibilities as a government.

Governor Fashola, who spoke while handing over the Ejigbo-Ajao Link Road and Bridges recounted the commitment made by the former governor of the State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu which led to the construction of the roads and bridges.

2014 Budget: Lagos Projects 10% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Growth.



Intensification of revenue generation drive as part of implementation strategies, says Akabueze  The Lagos State Government is projecting a 10 percent growth in its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for 2014 even as it also plans to intensify its revenue generation drive as part of the strategies to implement the 2014 Budget.


The projected percentage GDP growth represents a 3.2 percent increase over the projected GDP growth for Nigeria put at 6.8 percent. It also represents 6.6 percent over the projected GDP growth for the World Economy and 4.7 percent over the projected GDP growth for Emerging Economies.

An embattled US congressman was caught on film threatening to break a reporter in half and throw him off a Capitol balcony after he was asked about a campaign finance probe.

Michael Grimm, a Republican from New York, lost his temper during an interview with NY1 News television immediately after President Barack Obama's State of the Union address on Tuesday.
"I'm not talking about anything that's off topic. This is only about the president's speech," Grimm said, after the NY1 journalist asked him about an investigation into campaign finances.

The Lagos State Government on Wednesday unfolded its plans to redevelop and regenerate the Lagos Island Central Business District through strategic partnership with the Organised Private Sector, with Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN) emphasizing that the Island CBD already has an infrastructure Master plan that is being followed religiously.

Russia to consider Kiev gov't to determine Ukraine aid details.



Russian Economy Minister Alexei Ulyukayev said on Wednesday that Moscow will take changes in the Ukrainian government into consideration when determining the schedule and details of a $15 billion financial aid package to Kiev, the Interfax news agency reported.

"Our commitment to fulfilling these obligations has been confirmed. As for the schedule and parameters, this is an issue that requires further discussion with our Ukrainian colleagues and consideration of the restructuring of the government," Ulyukayev was quoted as saying.

Kwara State PDP To File Lawsuit Against Defectors




The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State is set to take legal action against 20 members of the State House of Assembly who recently defected to All Progressives Congress (APC). The chairman, caretaker committee of the Kwara State chapter of thePDP, Solomon Edeje, in his first interactive session with journalists after the inauguration in Abuja on Wednesday said that the party had concluded arrangements to file lawsuit.  Mr Edeje said that the party still believed that most of the defectors would retrace their steps and return to the party which he described as truly national.

11 Senators dump PDP, defect to APC



According to a report by Sahara Reporters, 11 PDP senators have defected to the All Progressive Congress APC. A formal letter to this effect has been handed to the Senate President, David Mark, and would be read to the general house this afternoon.

Prince Drags Facebook fans to court for posting links to his concerts



Prolific US singer/songwriter, Prince has instituted a lawsuit against 22 Facebook fans for posting links of his live concerts on their Facebook page and blogs without express authorization from him or his label. If found guilty in court, the fans would face a damage claim of $22million. He filed the law suit at the Northern District of Carolina, USA.

Although the actual names of most of the defendants in the lawsuit haven’t been revealed and the websites named in the suit can no longer be accessed, the usernames identified in the lawsuit (like “PurpleKissTwo”) indicate that at least some of the targets are Prince die hard fans.

Nigeria to spy and intercept text messages

Nigeria’s Federal Government has brought into action a draft bill that will allow the government to intercept and record electronic communications, and acquire internet usage data from internet service providers and mobile networks.

While the bill still needs to be passed into law, it will give the authorities the power to intercept personal email, text messages, instant messages, voice mails and multimedia messages – which they say will help with criminal investigations.

Under a subheading titled ‘Interception of electronic communications,’ section 22 of the bill says, “Where there are reasonable grounds to suspect that the content of any electronic communication is reasonably required for the purposes of a criminal investigation or proceedings, a judge may on the basis of information on oath:

Imo Government deports 84 Boko Haram suspects to Katsina



The National Film and Video Censors Board says it has confiscated pirated and uncensored badographic films valued at N2.5 million.In a statement issued by the acting Head, Corporate Affairs of the board, Mr Caesar Kagho in Abuja on Monday, the seizure was made possible through a raid carried out within Abuja metropolis.It said that the seizures were sequel to the board’s commitment of riding the Nigerian markets of unwholesome films.The statement further revealed that the films were illegal and was contributing negatively to the behavioural attitudes of youth in the society.

 A teenager burned to death in her car after crashing into a tree following a row with her boyfriend, an inquest has heard.

Lauren Jones died on the A42 near Horsham, West Sussex, minutes after sending a text message to a friend saying her Gareth Standing had 'got the major hump' with her after she left his house early to get her nails manicured.

A text message from Mr Standing saying 'hope your nails look nice', was found on the 19-year-old's phone just yards away from the car, the inquest heard.

The inquest in Crawley, West Sussex, heard how Miss Jones had been at her boyfriend's family home for his mother’s birthday celebration and had been planning a holiday with him.
