Fashola warns LASTMA, KAI against extortion of Lagosians
The Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola, has warned officials of the Lagos State Transport Management Authority, LASTMA, and Kick Against Indiscipline, KAI, to desist from extorting money from Lagos residents under the guise of carrying out their duties.
Mr. Fashola, who spoke to the officers over the weekend, urged them to always discharge their responsibilities in a way that would not portray the state in a bad light.
“Your primary responsibility is to move traffic. If you have to make a choice between moving traffic and letting an offender go, let the offender go. I don’t need him; we need to keep traffic moving because moving traffic is the economy,” Mr. Fashola told the LASTMA officers.

597 Palestinians, One-Quarter Children, Killed in Israel’s Military Op in Gaza
Israel's Operation Protective Edge and ground invasion into the Gaza Strip has killed at least 597 Palestinians, including 152 children and 82 women, Al Mezan Centre for Human Rights, a nongovernmental organization based in the Gaza Strip, said in its most recent reports.
“According to the field investigations by Al Mezan Centre for Human Rights, as of 1 p.m. [10:00 GMT] today, on Tuesday 22 July 2014, at least 597 Palestinians have been verified as killed by the IOF [Israeli occupation forces]; including 152 children and 82 women,” the report said.

The Mujahid Dokubo-Asari-led Niger Delta Peoples Salvation Front, NDPSF has warned Northerners living in the South to leave the region.
This is coming on the heels of a 2-week ultimatum given by a group of Northern youthsunder the aegis of Arewa Youth Development Foundation (AYDF), to Southerners currently living in the North, to relocate to their respective states.

3-Man Car-Snatching thieves Nabbed
The Lagos State Anti-Robbery Patrol Team has arrested three young men infamous for snatching exotic cars around Victoria Island, Lekki and Ajah axis of Lagos State.
The three man gang, Rasheed Yusuf, 20, Ade Yemi, 22, and Toyin Ajayola, 22, according to Vanguard, operate using charms, guns and other ammunition which were in their possession at the point they were arrested. Although the policemen attached to the Bar Beach Police Station around the area arrested the trio, two of the gang (Ade and Toyin) escaped but were later re-arrested at a face-off with the policemen around Cowrie Bridge outward Victoria Island on Monday night after they newly snatched a taxi at Orile Iganmu area of Lagos state.

EFCC set to declare Nyako wanted
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has concluded arrangements to declare the impeached Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, wanted. The Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, made this known to one of our correspondents in a telephone interview in Abuja on Tuesday.
Uwujaren explained that the commission was set to do so because Nyako had been elusive since his removal by the members of the state House of Assembly last week.
He said, “Since Nyako was removed, he has been elusive. So the commission has devised a strategy to declare him wanted. The commission is planning to declare him wanted.”
