That matter of a detained ex-president



France’s Nicolas Sarkozy is in trouble. It’s because the French police detained the immediate past president days back. Those law enforcers said he had questions to answer about allegations of corruption. This isn’t the first time a former French president would answer questions about corruption. But that of Sarkozy is of special interest; a rare fish caught in a net is ever a spectacle, anyway. And note that nailing an ex-president can be an arduous task, even in nations which carefully project that they apply rule of law across board.

Dating Clearance Peters and Others is Not True - Chidinma Denies






Singer Chidinma who rose to stardom after winning the 3rd season of MTN's Project Fame West Africa and also popular for her hit single, ‘kedike,' has been alleged on several occasions that she has already established an affair with music artiste like Wizkid, Soundcity presenter Adams, and now she's recently been linked with Clarence Peters.


The singer has debunked these claims and said there is nothing other than friendship going on between herself and the ace music producer, Clarence Peters.
We recall that she also denied dating the likes of Wizkid and other industry guys whom she had been linked with. Chidinma explained that Peters is just her friend while speaking with OmoOodua

Bored gang of Boys Beat 8 Year Old To Death.




A gang of 11 boys aged between 9 and 13 have allegedly beaten to death their eight-year-old classmate because they were bored, Chinese police said today (Friday). 

The boys allegedly attacked Zhang Tai in the road just near the town of Zhangjiakou in north-west China's Hebei province. They reportedly beat him up, before leaving his battered and bruised body lying next to the road.

A Stolen 2-Year Old Baby Found At Lagos Airport 5 Days Later





A two-year old baby girl stolen by unidentified men from her parents' home in Lagos last week Friday after a vigil has been found at the local wing of the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

The little girl, Mercy Osunbawo, was in captivity for five days before she was found at the airport at about 2: 00 a.m. on Wednesday unaccompanied before she was rescued and handed over to the airport police. It was not certain how Mercy got to the airport.

Stalemate in confab over derivation formula •Kutigi meets 50 wise men today



AGAIN, proceedings at the national conference, on Thursday, were in disarray over the logjam between the northern and southern delegates, over the contentious issues of derivation formula and five per cent special intervention fund for the North East.


The development forced the chairman of the conference, Justice Idris Kutigi, to adjourn the sitting abruptly, in order to avert a free-for-all.  The plenary was thrown into chaos when the deputy chairman of the conference, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, called on the members of the Consensus Group to present their report and recommendation to the conference.

$49.8bn oil money not missing —Senate •Rejects bid to remove fuel subsidy



SENATORS, on Thursday, ratified the report of its committee on Finance, which probed allegations of missing $49.8 billion oil revenue made by former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Lamido Sanusi.


Lawmakers at the sitting ratified the report, which indicated that the allegation by the former CBN governor was unfounded, indicating that the said money was not missing from government’s coffers.
They also unanimously rejected the proposal that the Federal Government should remove petroleum subsidy, due to the alleged widespread misapplication of the funds.

Ekiti gov election was 'rigged from source' —Fayemi's wife




WIFE of Ekiti State governor, Chief Bisi Fayemi, has alleged that “events unfolding after the June 21 governorship election in the state suggest that the election was manipulated from source.”
Mrs Fayemi said in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, on Thursday, that “in due course, the full story of how the elections were manipulated against the governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, would be revealed.”


She was said to have bared her mind while delivering a keynote address at the 50th Anniversary Public Lecture and Award ceremony of the state chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).

Gov. Amosun, Baba Suwe, Adeyeye, Sagay mourn Aturu



Nigerians have described the death of the Lagos-based human rights activist, Bamidele Aturu, as shocking and ill-timed.  They added that the deceased died at a time when he was needed the most. Aturu, 49, died on Wednesday.  Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, the Minister of State for Works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, a legal icon, Prof. Itse Sagay, and popular Yoruba actor, Mr. Babatunde Omidina alias Baba Suwe, described his death as shocking and devastating.

Nigeria Gets Amputee Ban



According to Pius Asaba, a member of the Amputee Football Federation for Africa (AFFA), the World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) has suspended Nigeria from participating in its activities.
Asaba told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, on Thursday in Lagos that the Nigeria Amputee Football Federation (NAFF) was suspended because the country did not pay its annual affiliation fee since 2013.
He said that the sanction had denied the country’s national amputee football team from participating in the 2014 Amputee Football World Cup, scheduled to hold in Mexico from November 30 to December 10.
“We have been sanctioned by the world body, and the implication is that our national team will no longer be allowed participation in the World Cup, organised by WAFF.

4 armed robbers who specialize in robbing with police uniforms nabbed in Lagos



Four armed robbers who specialize in robbing with police uniforms have been arrested and paraded by the Lagos state Police command. The four men named Julius George, Samuel Orgah, Lucky Oliseh and Lucky Friday were arrested by the police force at the Ile Zik area on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on the 22nd of June Punch reports.

From their confessions, it was gathered that other operations carried out by the gang included robbing a trailer load of rice at Oju-Elegba area worth N4.5m and a tanker carrying engine oil worth N11m. They were arrested during the Ile Zik area operation, which was said to be their fourth operation, and involving about N8m.

RCCG student that killed his father: Anotner Victim shares her own story




In light of the story you posted on your blog about the RCCG student that killed his father, and the response to it by comedian: Wale Gates, I will like to share a little bit of my story to educate my fellow readers on the dangers of abusing their power and authority over their children, I believe there are a lot of people with stories similar to mine that will have the courage to speak out after they read my story, and they will also realize that they are not alone in their experience. While the action of the RCCG student was despicable and evil, the truth of what led to it may never be known, but I believe there is an opportunity for a  lot of people to learn from that unfortunate story about how parents can sometimes push their children to the extreme limits.

Lagos state Police Commissioner Umaru Abubakar Manko while presenting the young girl to newsmen at the Ikeja Headquarters of the command said she was abducted from her parents about 3 years back and has been sold to different people where she's served as a maid. According to the ratings the group is worth about $70 million which was made between year 2006 and 2011 from their numerous kidnappings and the subsequent ransoms procured.

The Department of State Security today July 10th paraded 6 men who allegedly kidnapped the 70year old uncle of President Jonathan, Nitabai Inengite, in Bayelsa state on Feb 23rd. The names of the six men paraded are; Eldred Magnus Johnah, Raphael Inengesi Abobo, Ibeabuchi Inya, Oreva Abridi, Tammy Tamarapreye Agbai and Felix Onuoha, an indigenous doctor.

GEJ nominates FRSC boss as minister, to replace Stella Oduah



President Jonathan has nominated the current boss of the Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC, 43 year old Ositadinma Benjamin Chidoka as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to represent Anambra in the Federal Executive council.

According to reports, Chidoka is most likely to replace former Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah who resigned her position in February. A letter of his nomination has been sent to the Nigerian Senate and would be read on the floor of the Senate today. Abubakar Olanrewaju from Kwara state was also nominated and would replace former Sports minister, Bolaji Abdullahi, in the Federal Executive Council if confirmed by the senate.
