GEJ condemns Nyanya Motor Park bombing





Prof. Wole Soyinka seeks non-partisan approach to B’Haram war



Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has said that Nigeria need to seek non partisan approach towards solving the problem posed by the Boko Haram sect to the country.
Soyinka said this in Osogbo on Monday at colloquium organised by the Centre forBlack Culture and International Understanding entitled 
“Fundamental Imperatives of Cohabitation Faith and Secularism.”
Soyinka, who is the Chairman of CBCIU said that the killings by the sect transcended  partisan politics saying every Nigerian irrespective of religious or political leaning must rise up against it.
He described the  incessant killings by the  sect as nothing but a war with the nation.
He said, 
“What is happening now goes beyond politics. I think there should be a non partisan approach  to it. Enough atrocities have been committed, programmed structured atrocities with a goal in view.

Nyanya, Abuja bomb blast: PDP accuses APC of culpability



The Peoples Democratic Party on Monday accused the opposition All Progressives Party of culpability in the bomb blast which killed over 70 people in Nyanya, Abuja, on Monday.
While condemning the act which it described as barbaric, monstrous and extremely wicked, the PDP said the attacks were politically motivated.

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, said this in a statement, in Abuja.

 A robber in Oyo, who specialized in carrying out his nefarious acts using motorcycles, got significantly more than he bargained for when he was attacked with a mob and killed.  The unidentified man is said to have completed a robbery on a petrol station in the Alakia section of Ibadan, their state capital, when he was chased down and accosted by the mob.   The robber was then stabbed in the stomach and his other gang members were beaten mercilessly until they were rescued by the police.

A middle-aged woman was on Friday lynched and set ablaze by an irate mob at Emir’s road, near Opo-Malu junction, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

According to reports, the mother of the baby was alighting from a motorcycle and had asked the woman to assist her hold the baby. But surprisingly,  the suspected kidnapper bolted away with the baby. Shocked, the mother of the baby raised alarm which attracted passersby and neighbours and they chased the fleeing suspect. The mob eventually caught up with her, stripped her naked and beat her mercilessly before setting her ablaze.

 President Jonathan has canceled his proposed visit to Ibadan Oyo State today to go to the scene of the bomb blast at Nyanya Motor Park Abuja with Four Service Chiefs & the National Security Adviser. President Jonathan was said to be in Ibadan to felicitate with the Olubadan of Ibadan who turned 100 years today. The president has left the blast scene and happens to be going to Asokoro General Hospital.

Reactions have continued to trail this morning’s dastardly attack in Nigeria’s capital by terrorists suspected to be of the Boko Haram sect.

President Goodluck Jonathan has already visited the scene of the attack in Nyanya, as well as one of the hospitals were some of the injured were rushed to in Asokoro. He directed that security should be beefed around the FCT and also cancelled his scheduled visit to Ibadan today.

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a 20-year-old man, Ngwuta Nweke, for allegedly killing his friend in their apartment in the Sawmill area of Ebute Meta.

According to the police, the suspect strangled Emeka James during an argument over a cooking pot on March 22, 2014.

Rainstorm Causes Havoc In Lagos: 15 buildings were damaged by heavy.



At the least not significantly less than 15 buildings were damaged by heavy rainstorm yesterday morning at Ebute Metta part of Lagos as residents ready to leave for church. Roofs of several houses were removed and plenty of properties destroyed. At the very least 10 vehicles were also damaged in the process.  Spokesperson, for National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA,  Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the incident and said the agency was assessing the damage and would produce relief packages.

Boko Haram kills scores in Abuja motor park bombing




Scores of people were killed and maimed as an early morning bomb explosion rocked a motor park in Nyanya area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Monday. Nyanya is a satellite town bordering the FCT and Nasarawa State. The explosion reportedly occurred in a section of the park allocated to luxury buses popularly called “El-Rufa’i buses.”  Worst hit was the area where vehicles plying Abuja-Ilorin-Kabba were parked.

Thieves From Hell Snatch 20 Children in Calabar in 3 Months

With over 20 kids abducted in three months in Calabar, the stories surrounding their disappearance are like tales from the moon, but what is happening to kids between the ages of three and six in the Cross River State capital, is far from tales; they are real life incidents which are sending fear down the spine of many parents.

Another example of a hypocrisy by western officials.



"On Feb. 21 of this year — a pivotal date in the crisis — the minister declared on Facebook: “Canada welcomes the agreement reached today between the Ukrainian government and opposition leaders. We will remain vigilant in monitoring progress under the agreement and stand ready to promote the full implementation of its commitments.” This was an agreement between the now ousted president Viktor Yanukovych and Ukraine’s leading opposition leaders, witnessed by France, Germany, Poland and Russia, to hold presidential elections by December of this year, reinstate the 2004 constitution and, among other things, address the problem of illegal weapons on the Maidan.
