Nyanya Bomb blast: Suspected Masterminds Uncovered (Photo)




The State Security Service (SSS) also known as Department of State Services (DSS) has carried out a detailed investigation into the ‪#‎Nyanya‬bombings which has led to the arrest of some suspected masterminds of the attacks. Find below details of the Press Briefing.

Recall that on 14th April, 2014 at El-Rufai Motor Park, Nyanya, a bomb explosion occurred which resulted in the death of 74 people, leaving several others injured. As investigation was ongoing, another bomb blast occurred on 1st May, 2014. Following these incidents, and in line with Security Forces commitment to bringing to book perpetrators of evil in our society, a thorough investigation was initiated which led to the arrest of some suspected masterminds of the attacks. ABUJA BLAST LATEST: Government Releases Names Of Nyanya Explosion Victims Currently Receiving Medical Treatment



The Nigerian Government has released a list of names and contacts of 126 persons receiving treatment in several hospitals after a powerful explosion occurred in Nyanya, Abuja, on the morning of April 14, Monday. The authorities report that over 75 individuals were killed in the blast at the crowded bus park in Abuja's suburb. The list was created by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). A number of the victims may have been discharged. The FG had earlier given approval for hospital authorities release  the remains to the families. NYANYA Bomb blast: IGP visits Scene, calls for Calm, Places Operatives on Red Alert. (Press Release)



In a swift reaction to the Monday morning, 14th April, 2014 blast at a motor park in Nyanya, a suburb of about 30 kilometres from the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP MD Abubakar, CFR, NPM, mni, psc has visited the scene of the explosion where he assessed the extent of damage and the impact on the surrounding environment. He urged the citizens and the international community to remain calm and vigilant as the Police and other security agencies are stepping up measures to uncover the authors of the crime and avoid a reoccurrence of this unfortunate incident.
