Police Rescues Two ESUT Students From Kidnappers Den, Nabs One Suspect




The police in Enugu State, on Tuesday freed two students of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, from kidnappers’ den.

The students, Alexander Afamefuna Akadieze of Amankwo Oghe, a third year student of department of political science and Miracle Chukwuemeka, a second year student of department of sociology, regained their freedom after one week.

LASRAB Undertakes Badagry Records Survey



Lagos State Records & Archives Bureau (LASRAB) has carried out records survey and accessioning of Badagry Local Government to determine historical records of enduring value for preservation and use of future generations.

The survey was undertaken by Archivists of the Bureau led by Mr. Bolaji Uthman, the Director General - LASRAB. The exercise was conducted round the entire Local Government which include the Local Government Headquarters, Ajara Badagry and other parts of the Local Governments which include Ajido, Ere, Wawu and boundary town of Ikoga that is the boundary between Lagos and Ogun State.

Gov. Fashola Appoints Kasim acting CEO Ibile Holdings



Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola has approved the appointment of Fauziyyah Kikelomo Kasim as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Ibile Holdings Limited. The appointment takes immediate effect.

Over the weekend, a 24-year-old lady, Tivere, was molested by a security guard – Kelly Ochuko- on Mutiatu Street, Ikotun, Lagos State, while returning from a vigil at the Synagogue Church of All Nation.

The incident happened around 2am.

Police source say Tivere had travelled to Lagos from Sapele, Delta State, to participate in Pastor Temitope Joshua’s midnight programme. Around 2am, she had left for her lodge when a 27-year-old Ochukwo allegedly accosted her.

A spy policeman and an elder in Celestial Church of Christ at Afromedia Estate in Lagos, Mr Michael Okoli happens to be cooling off at a Police station for trying to kill his wife. Boko Haram Hit men attack 2 villages in Borno , Govt seals border with cameroon



Boko Haram members yesterday Sunday Feb. 23rd attacked two villages, Mairari village of Konduga LGA and Izge village in Gwoza LGA in Borno state killing many people.

This is the second time the sect men are attacking Izge village. They had attacked the village on the 16th of February killing 63 people.  In this recent attack, the men came at about 2am, chanting war songs while they killed elderly people in the village and burnt down most of the standing buildings in the village. Most of the men, women and youths fled the village immediately they heard the sect men coming.

Sanusi Is Still CBN Governor - Pres. GEJ Insists



President Goodluck Jonathan has noted that Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is still the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.  Jonathan made this statement during the presidential media chat held on Monday evening. The President also stressed the fact that Sanusi was only suspended to give room for investigation into the allegation of financial recklessness levelled against him.  He assured that Sanusi will be restored to his position if he is not guilty at the end of the investigation.

EME first lady, Niyola involved in fatal car crash



Nigerian singer Eniola Akinbo, popularly known as Niyola, miraculously survived a fatal car accident yesterday at about 7PM. The EME record label first lady, who was driving with a friend of hers, had the accident while driving in a Honda CRV from Lekki, Lagos, where she had just finished a meeting.

R.I.P: Nollywood Actress, Ijeoma Okori Buried Amid Tears






The remains of Nollywood actress, Ijeoma Okori, who died during childbirth in early February 2014, was finally laid to rest on Saturday, February 22, 2014 in her hometown in Imo State.


It was gathered that many could not hold back tears as the late 27-year-old woman laid to rest. The deceased was a member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Rivers State chapter before her untimely death.

According to a report by Punch, President Jonathan's cousin, Chief Inengite Nitabai was abducted yesterday Sunday February 23rd in the Otuoke community in Bayelsa State by unknown gunmen.

Nitabai, who is said to be the compound chief of Jonathan's family, was abducted by 10 suspected kidnappers about 9pm yesterday. Six of the assailants reportedly forced their way into the house, while the rest of the four stayed outside, monitoring activities. A middle aged woman, Ene Edem Okon, has been arrested by the police for allegedly inflicting bodily harm and tying her 11-year-old daughter, Queeneth Ene Edem, hands and legs for being wayward.  She was arrested when Queeneth appeared in her school, Government Primary School, Akim, with multiple wounds on her chest, stomach and buttocks prompting the school authorities to report the matter to the police at the Akim Police Station.

GEJ is surrounded by ‘incompetent’ frauds – SLS



LAGOS (AFP) – Nigeria’s ousted central bank chief Lamido Sanusi on Sunday described the president who ousted him as a simple man trying to do well who has been undermined by incompetent and fraudulent aides.
“When you sit with President Goodluck Jonathan himself he appears a nice simple person who is trying his best to do his best,” Sanusi told AFP in an interview. “His greatest failing obviously is that he is surrounded by people who are extremely incompetent, who are extremely fraudulent and whom he trusts.”
