Reno Omokri's Article On Nigeria's Rebased Economy

An article by Reno Omokri, Special Assistant on New Media to President Jonathan

The attempts by some individuals to deemphasize the recent rebasing of the Nigerian economy as something that should not be celebrated is most unfortunate as this is a feat that adds value to every Nigerian irrespective of religion, region or political persuasion.

President Jonathan once said “I am loyal to Nigeria’s economy. I don’t have accounts or property abroad. All my children live and school in Nigeria”....

On Progressives and Pro-aggressives - Written by Reno Omokri

Article written by Reno Omokri, Special Assistant to the President on New Media.
All advertising is based on the theory of Proof by Repeated Assertion which provides that a proposition repeated and restated regularly using the mass media comes to be accepted as true irrespective of any contradictions in the proposition being asserted. This theory is very effective and even more so in the modern world where attention spans are limited and people read headlines and draw conclusions without reading the story.

'On Sanusi, the Opposition and Fifth Columnists' - By Reno Omokri

Article written by Reno Omokri, Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media. Find below
The recent suspension of the erstwhile Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria has ignited a debate on Social Media and as has become typical with many pundits, the discourse has been dominated by sentiments rather than facts.
As Sanusi has indicated that he will be challenging his suspension in court, I will not make this piece about him and recent events surrounding him. Yes, I will cite some examples of double standards as regards the approach taken by some analysts, but in my view, the matter is now best left to the courts.

National Dialogue: Preparing for a Marriage, not a Wedding - by Reno Omokri

Another article written by Reno Omokri, Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media.
Now that the modalities for the National Conference have been released, it is clear that this dialogue is going to be a citizens driven discourse which to every true progressive must be very reassuring, because as most married couples know, it spells disaster for a nuptial union if you spend time preparing for a wedding rather than a marriage. A wedding is a day’s event. A marriage is a lifetime affair. And what Nigeria had on the 1st of January 1914 was a wedding.
Recently, I became aware of Brian Tracy's maxim of management which provides that "every minute you spend planning saves ten minutes in execution; this gives you a 1000% Return on Energy".

Same S-ex Marriage: Who be government teacher? By Reno Omokri

An article written by Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media. Find below...

The criticism President Goodluck Jonathan has faced in some quarters for signing the Same-Se-x Marriage Prohibition Bill 2011 into law is in my opinion clearly misplaced. For one, these critics have to understand that the way and manner democracy works, at least in Nigeria, is that the Legislature makes the laws, the Executive implements it and the Judiciary interprets it. But be that as it may, in Nigeria, the President at any time is both a Head of State as well as the Head of Government, this is one reason why the President is called an Executive President. The real problem with Nigeria -Reno Omokri

Nigerians always blame the government in power for the problems of the nation even though many of these preceded the government in power. Why do we always do this?

For instance, ask any Nigerian what the problem is with Nigeria and they will say like, Chinua Achebe, that it is leadership, forgetting that Nigeria’s leaders come from amongst us; and if we are saying that our problem is leadership, we are invariably supporting the racist Rhodesian doctrine that a black man would thrive best under white rule.
