President Jonathan, Please end the tragic farce in Rivers State now!
DEAR President Goodluck Jonathan , I never thought I would join in the letter writing orgy that has seized all of Nigeria by the wrist! Certainly, not given the self-serving purposes of the Epistle of Saint Matthew of Otta to the people of Nigeria through you and the many replies to it.

Jonathan announces Tukur’s resignation, produces letter from pocket
The National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has just accepted the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur. President Goodluck Jonathan announced to the members of NEC that Tukur has resigned from his job. Jonathan, who brought out Tukur’s letter of resignation from his pocket, handed it over to the National Secretary of the party, Prof. Wale Oladipo. As soon as he announced the resignation, the audience clapped in acceptance. President Jonathan therefore directed the Governor of Cross Rivers State, Mr. Liyel Imoke to move the motion for the acceptance of Tukur’s resignation. Imoke appealed to Tukur not to abandon the party despite his resignation.
Nigeria anti-gay law ’ll fuel violence –UN Secretary General
United Nations’ Secretary-General Ban
Ki-moon expressed deep concern on Wednesday at a new Nigerian law that
criminalises same-sex relationships, which he fears could fuel prejudice
and violence and risks obstructing an effective HIV/AIDS response.
The bill, which contains penalties of up
to 14 years in prison and bans gay marriage, same-sex “amorous
relationships” and membership of gay rights groups, was passed by the
National Assembly last May and signed into law by President Goodluck
Jonathan on Monday.
“The Secretary-General fears that the law may fuel prejudice and violence, and notes with alarm reports that police in northern Nigeria have arrested individuals believed by the authorities to be homosexuals, and may even have tortured them,” Ban’s press office said in a statement quoted by Reuters.

We’ll change House leadership, APC Reps insist
Members of the House of Representatives,
particularly those of the All Progressives Congress caucus are bent on
changing the leadership of the House as lawmakers resume sitting on
Tuesday next week. The APC gained a slim numerical
advantage over the Peoples Democratic Party before the lawmakers
proceeded on the Christmas/New Year break on December 19. Thirty-seven former PDP members had
defected to the APC on the floor of the House, citing “division” in the
PDP as the reason for their action.
Why did Jonathan sign the gay law?
In 2013, an iconic picture of two ladies
kissing before anti-gay marriage protesters in Marseille, France, went
viral. That act of defiance before an assembly of mostly old ladies was
to demonstrate an inviolable right to private life and choice. It was
largely the fear of this sort of freedom that spurred the Nigerian
Senate to embark on pushing a bill to criminalise activities relating to
homosexuality with draconian measures.
The climax of the saga occurred on
Monday, January 13 when the Special Adviser to President Goodluck
Jonathan on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, announced that the
President had signed the bill into law.
Corruption worsened under OBJ–Bakare
Convener of Save Nigeria Group, Pastor

lecturer at the 10th Chief Gani Fawehinmi Annual Lecture/Symposium,
organised by the Ikeja Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association. The event, with the theme, ‘Nigeria at
centenary: A nation still in bondage?,’ was chaired by former President
of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami (retd.).

The Man who hasn't had a bath in over 6 decades.
This Iranian man you see above hasn't had a shower for 60 years. Daily Mail reports that 80 year old Iranian Amou Haji hasn't washed for 60 years because he believes being clean will make him sick, and his favourite food is rotten porcupine.
To relax he likes to sit down and have a smoke, from a pipe packed with animal faeces. Mr Haji says he chose this way of life after going through some emotional setbacks in his youth and since then - perhaps unsurprisingly - he has become a bit isolated. His home is in Dejgah village in the southern province of Fars in Iran where, once, a group of young men offered to give him a shower - but luckily he managed to escape. At night he either sleeps in a hole in the ground, which is quite like a grave, or in an open brick shack which concerned locals built for him. Continue after the break

TB Joshua Talks about Same-Sex Marriage Ban
As news of the controversial law banning same-sex marriage continues to create headlines worldwide after it was signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan, the renowned spiritual head of the Synagogue church in Lagos, Prophet TB Joshua has spoken out on the contentious issue.
“Judge not, so that you will not be judged,” Joshua began, citing Matthew 7:1 for Scriptural backing. “We should talk to people to be saved and not to die. I mean, we should talk salvation, not condemnation. The Bible is my standard.”

Asian anti-Black racism at an embassy in Nigeria
Lagos, Nigeria 2007 (Photo: Paolo Woods)
Anti-Black racism from Arabs is nothing new, but anti-Black racism from East and South-East Asians is not what most Nigerians expect. For an Asian to call us "monkeys" is beyond preposterous. For Asians to shout and yell at us, even to the point of physically assaulting a woman in her 40s is unbelievable. As you may be aware, Nigerians thrive on respect, as do Asians. Older people, Asian and African, command respect, yet to my non-Nigerian colleagues this does not translate across nationalities. I see that they have respect for each other, but literally zero, zilch, none, for older Nigerian staff. I know a bit of the language, so I can understand when they are insulting us in our presence, calling us "bastards."

Action Speaks: 168 arrested for just being gay in north Nigeria
LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) — Human rights activists say dozens of gay men are being arrested in northern Nigeria.
They say such persecution will increase since President Goodluck Jonathan signed legislation banning same-sex marriage and criminalizing gay clubs and associations. Dorothy Aken'Ova is executive director of Nigeria's International Center for Reproductive Health and Sexual Rights. She said Tuesday the new law, already being dubbed the "Jail the Gays" law, will endanger and even criminalize programs fighting HIV-AIDS in the gay community.
More lives will undoubtedly be missing if Jonathan continues ruling Nigeria – Tinubu
Tinubu, while reacting to the recent disruption of a rally organized by Save Rivers Movement on Sunday, said it was a coup successfully planned by Jonathan. He said instead of encouraging democracy, the Jonathan administration was now engaged in a fight against the rights of Nigerians.
The statement, released on Monday by Tinubu’s media aide, Sunday Dare, reads in full:
