Nigeria Loses 250 Billion Naira Every month To Maritime Crime
Nigeria is losing about 250 Billion Naira monthly to maritime crime, an official of the Nigerian Navy has said.
Smuggling, piracy and bunkering are top on the list of the crimes described by Air Vice Marshal Eko Osim as economic sabotage.
At a seminar for the junior course 76 on how to Police the maritime environment held on Friday by the department of maritime warfare, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, in Jaji Kaduna, Osim, revealed that crime in the territorial waters of the Gulf of Guinea has become sophisticated as the criminals keep devising various means to beat the law.

The officers of the Nigeria Police Force went violent against a photojournalist, Okanyi Enemali, who was alleged to have taken a shot of a policeman taking bribe. The incident took place in front of the Lokoja Specialist Hospital, in the evening of December 13, 2013, Friday.
About eight armed policemen were seen beating the helpless man for about 30 minutes, until he almost lost consciousness.
Ukraine-Russia loan talks said to be on up to $15 billion - sources
The
two sides are also discussing the price Ukraine pays for the natural
gas it buys from its eastern neighbor, said the people who asked not to
be identified because the talks haven’t been completed. Ukraine may
receive as much as $5 billion this year, one of the people said.
Russia’s finance ministry confirmed that the sides were negotiating a
loan, without further details. Vitaliy Lukyanenko, Ukrainian Prime

No fewer than 25 people suspected to be members of Boko Haram sect were killed, Thursday, in a clash with troops of the 7 Division, Nigerian Army at Ngauramari villages of Bama Local Government Area of Borno state.
