President Goodluck Jonathan and two of his top ministers may be attempting a cover-up on what clearly competes as Nigeria’s biggest fraud ever, involving the illegal diversion, or theft, of over N8 trillion crude oil sales proceeds.

An apparently angry and frustrated ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo has written what clearly competes as one of the most acerbic letters in modern history to President Goodluck Jonathan, accusing him of ineptitude and of taking actions calculated at destroying Nigeria.

“Nigeria is bleeding and the hemorrhage must be stopped,” Mr. Obasanjo said in the 18-page letter dated December 2, 2013 and exclusively obtained by PREMIUM TIMES Tuesday.

During a recent interview with HipHop World magazine, OJB said that many cheques given to him towards his kidney transplant, bounced.

There are well meaning and bitter people in Naija. Most people were just complaining and these people didn’t even donate. All the figures flying in the air then were just fake and make-belief from different angles because if we had the money we wouldn’t have the governor donate N16million.

Uruguay set to become first country to legalize growing, buying and selling marijuana.



 South American country Uruguay is set to become the first country in the world to allow its citizens to grow, sell, buy and smoke marijuana. The country's Senate began its final debate on the issue today Tuesday Dec. 10th and claim they want to legalize it in a bid to take the business from criminals.

If this bill, which has the support of majority of the House and the president of the country, is passed, Uruguay will be the first country to legalize a trade that is illegal everywhere else in the world.

 Recently the speaker of Home of Representatives Tambuwal said that Leader Jonathan's gestures is encouraging corruption in Nigeria. The speaker said the leader is encouraging corrupt practices by'declining to do something on corruption instances exposed by the National Assembly.'
“Take the subsidy probe, the pension, the SEC probe and recently the bullet proof car cases. After the House of Representatives did a diligent job by probing and exposing the cases, you now see something else when it comes to prosecution." Tabumwal said while responding to questions at an anti-corruption seminar organized by NBA, in Abuja.

Heartless: “He flushed the toilet at the wrong time” – says Landlord who beat his tenant to death





A 65-year old person, Adebayo Akinrinlade, was recently charged to court for practically beating  his tenant, Uche Jordan to death.
Akinrinlade was arraigned before a Tinubu Magistrate Judge in  Lagos.
The person who lives at No. 40, Church Road, Aboru, Iyana-Ipaja, is facing a one-count charge of unlawful beating, leading to death.
Premium Times reports:
The Prosecutor, Chidi Okoye, said that the accused committed the offence on April 1, at No. 40, Church Street, Aboru, Iyana-Ipaja.

CAPE TOWN  - Nelson Mandela’s former jailers and fellow prisoners united in his memory Tuesday across the water from Robben Island where he spent 18 of his 27 years in prison.  Ex-prison guard Christo Brand was among some 200 people packed into an auditorium at the ferry departure point — known as “Nelson Mandela Gateway” — to the island off Cape Town which is now a museum and top tourist site.

Cairo police again uses tear gas against protesters, injures 6 people



In the heart of Cairo one can again smell tear gas. Clashes occurred in the world's largest Islamic University Al-Azhar. Several hundred students, supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood, disrupted educational lectures, and then went to the streets and blocked several highways.Islamists threw stones, firecrackers and bottles at the arrived police.A similar situation occurred in the square near the University of Cairo.There they also had to deal with students using tear gas grenades. Six people got injured.


Ukranian riot police arrive to Independence Square in Kiev




Several hundred people from special forces of Ukraine arrived at Kiev Independence Square. After that, the State Executive read a court decision to protesters about banning the mass protests in the city center. According to the coordinators of the protest, police arrived from the other part of the square as well. Law enforcers are facing barricades. Ukrainian opposition earlier said that it expects to break up the protests on Kiev's Independence Square during the next few hours.

200 poisoned with unknown gas in California.



About 200 people are reported to have been poisoned with unknown chemical agent in the western US city of Monrovia in California, a Voice of Russia correspondent reports on the ground. According to the latest media reports, the victims’ tally has surged from 150 up to 200 people. At least 45 of them were brought to hospital with signs of asphyxiation, bouts of asthma and pains in the chest.

Tens of thousands of people are joining world leaders at a memorial service for former South African President Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg. The service is being held at the FNB stadium, where Mr Mandela made his last public appearance. It is also being shown on big screens at three "overflow" stadiums.

1 1/2-year-old child with two of his siblings burnt to death in Lagos.



A one and a half year old child with two of his siblings were, weekend  burnt to death in an inferno that engulfed a building and a church in Iba Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Lagos State, leaving property worth millions of Naira destroyed.

Also, two unidentified dredgers got drowned in a 70-feet domestic well in Ojo Local Government, Lagos.
The deceased siblings identified as Imoleayo, Ismaila who is eight years old and Busayo Ganiyu, were said to have been sleeping when the fire started.

22 Year Old Nigerian Murdered In The US While Selling His Playstation 4



San Francisco police has arrested a 21-year-old man who they say killed another man over a PlayStation 4.
The suspect, Ronnie Collins, made arrangements online to buy the new console from the victim, 22-year-old Ikenna Uwakah. Uwakah[Above] was shot at 3:30 p.m. and died in the hospital Sunday, NBC News reports. Collins was arrested on Monday.

ASUU Strike: This Government Is Not Ready, The Strike Continues



Public university lecturers under the umbrella of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on Sunday insisted that they would not return to the classrooms on Monday as directed by the federal government.

They also accused the President Gooodluck Jonathan-led Government of insincerity in its bid to resolve the 6 months old dispute. ASUU President, Dr. Nasir Fagge, confirmed their stand to go on with the strike...
The Federal Government had through the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie, deferred its earlier ultimatum to the lecturers to resume work on Monday (today) or risk being sacked. The shift was to enable them to participate in the burial of Prof. Festus Iyayi, a former president of ASUU on Saturday.

Catholic priest goes gaga , Pulls Out Gun, Threatens To Shoot Church Members In Imo State.



. As you read this, a Catholic priest in Imo State is being investigated by the police after reports that he was illegally in possession of weapons.  The Reverend Father is said to be in charge of a parish in the Dikenafai environs of the Ideato South LGA of the state. He is said to have threatened members of his parish and endangered their lives with three unlicensed guns believed to be in his possession, without approval.
