Mom tried to sell two kids on Facebook so she could pay for her boyfriend's freedom

An Oklahoma mom tried to sell her two children for $4,000 so she could pay her boyfriend's bail, police have said.
Misty VanHorn, 22, is accused of offering up her babies — one who is 2 years old and the other just 10 months — via Facebook. The mom of two allegedly contacted a woman in Fort Smith, Ark., through the social network site.
Her oldest child was worth $1,000, or the "customer" could have both children for $4,000,  reports her as saying.
The woman, concerned about the safety of the youngsters, contacted Oklahoma Department of Human Services, who in turn notified Sallisaw Police. VanHorn was arrested on suspicion of trafficking children and is now being held in Sequoyah County Jail on $40,000 bond. The state has taken custody of the children.

The family of Facebook murder victim Katie Wynter have spoken of their “living hell” – to warn about the dangers of social networking sites.
Katie, a talented young art student, was duped into dating twisted loner Tony Bushby after he created four fake Facebook profiles.
His phoney friends all got to know the shy, church-going 19-year-old online and the messages he sent pretending to be them persuaded her to trust and like him.

Facebook Murder:Receptionist Recounts How Cynthia Was Found Dead

The trial of the suspects in connection with the murder of Facebook girl, Cynthia Osokogu began in Lagos today with the state calling Mrs Ifeyinwa Njegbu, a receptionist at Cosmilla Hotel, where Cynthia’s body was found, stone dead.
In her testimony, Ifeyinwa told the court that while on duty on 21 July, 2012, she checked in two guests, a man and a woman who claimed to be a couple into Room C1 of the hotel at about 12 noon. She noted that at about 8 a.m the next day, while she was preparing to hand over to one of her colleagues, Vivian Amule, the couple informed her through phone that they were checking out.
“After I had handed over to my colleague, I asked her to check out the couple since they had told me that they were leaving that morning”

Facebook: Why some ‘likes’ are worth more than others

When Facebook announced its much-anticipated Graph Search earlier this week, there were two questions underpinning most commentators’ responses: will this make a lot of money, and can it beat Google at its own game?
So far as the first question is concerned, the stock market response – an initial dip of around three per cent – suggested caution verging on disappointment. On the second front, however, there has been greater optimism, not least because Facebook seems to have invented a whole new game of its own: the world’s first truly social search function.

President Jonathan Gets Huge Criticism from Nigerians after Chrismass Message on FB

Full Message
"I want to seize this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance. I feel the pains of Nigerians and that is why this Yuletide I have personally instructed that our roads be worked on to enable you and your loved ones to travel safely for the holidays. Not done, we ensured that for the first time in decades, the cross country services (Lagos to Kano with stops in cities along the route) of the Nigerian Railway Corporation  were revived just prior to the holidays to provide Nigerian masses with an inexpensive alternative to road and air transportation."

"This administration also took steps to increase power generation by remaining true to the Timelines of the Roadmap to Power Sector Reform, which has seen history made on Friday, December 21, when Nigeria’s power generation hit an all-time high of just over 4,500 MW.”

"Nigerians traveled on these coaches which took them from Lagos to Kano beginning on Friday the 21st of December, 2012 at a very affordable rate of 1,500 Naira, with stops at many cities along the route"

This administration also took steps to increase power generation by remaining true to the Timelines of the Roadmap to Power Sector Reforms which has seen history made on Friday the 21st of December 2012, when Nigeria’s power generation hit an all time high of just over 4,500 MW which I know is still not good enough, but which nevertheless is an improvement of what we met on ground to the end that as many Nigerians as possible can celebrate the holidays with power in our homes and communities.

I reaffirm to you that, God willing, Nigeria will witness a better year in the coming year.

Once again, on behalf of my family and I and the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, wishes every Nigerian a very Merry Christmas and a most prosperous and Happy New Year. GEJ
