Tsav Calls For Massive Recruitment Into Police Force, Return Of Soldiers To Barracks.



The former Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, has urged the federal government to recruit more personnel into the Nigeria Police so that soldiers can return to the barracks.

With the rising wave of terrorism and other violent crimes, soldiers have been deployed across the country to assist the police in internal security operations. Tsav, who spoke yesterday in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, said “the police force is heavily understaffed and as a result, the soldiers have taken over their jobs and are allegedly killing innocent citizens even without provocation”.

Boko Haram writes official notice to Army, threatens to attack Maiduguri barracks



The members of the Boko Haram Sect have written to the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army threatening to attack Maimalari Barracks on Friday (today), Punch reports. Read full report below...

Investigations revealed that security had been beefed up in the Maimalari Barracks which has the Headquarters of the 7th Infantry Division of the Artillery Corps, the Ordinance, the Signal and other crucial units of the Army in Maiduguri.

It was gathered that while security agents saw the letter as a ploy to instill fear into security operatives, all efforts were being made to ward off any attack on the foremost military formation in the North-East.

Gunmen launch fresh attack on police barracks in Borno, chanting Allahu Akbar




Barely a week after the military, police and prison formations in Bama, Borno State were attacked by Boko Haram gunmen, police barracks in the outskirts of the township were attacked by the terror suspects with Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, and petrol bombs in the early hours of yesterday.

An anonymous female resident of the barracks said in a telephone chat: “The gunmen came on motorcycles and tricycles at about 3 a.m. and started chanting Allahu Akbar(God is great), before detonating the bombs that triggered the burning of these houses. We had to flee in the night.

Burglars steal freely in police barracks





Burglars broke into an apartment located in Alausa Police Barracks, Lagos State, carting away valuables such as jewellery, telephones and money.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the crime took place penultimate Sunday at Alhaja Toheebat Dosunmu’s residence at officers’ block, flat six. The burglers went away without being apprehended.
It was learnt that the burglary was one of many that had taken place in the barracks in recent times.
Our correspondent, who visited the house (Dosumus) on Sunday, learnt that the robbers broke into the apartment around 3am.
