How Borno Governor caused kidnap of Chibok schoolgirls – WAEC



“The Borno state government also refused to relocate the students from Chibok to safer places like Maiduguri.”
The kidnap of over 250 schoolgirls in Chibok may not have occurred if the Borno State Government had heeded the advice of an examination body, fresh facts have emerged.
Aware of the poor security situation in Borno and worried about the safety of students, the West African Examination Council, WAEC, declined to conduct its Senior School Certificate Examination in unsafe parts of Borno, including Chibok.

15 WAEC Exam 'Cheaters' turn bon again, Return Certificates.



In what may come as a big surprise to most people, no fewer than 15 persons recently returned certificates issued to them by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

Cos according to them, they had to give up the certificates because they cheated during the examination, and now as Born Again Christians, they could not live with “the sin.”

WAEC Office Stormed as Teachers Protest in Benue



Teachers stormed the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) office in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, on August 19, 2013, Monday. The operation of the examination body has been completely paralysed due to the protest.

The teachers claimed that the state’s WAEC office in Makurdi owes them two months allowances because they had marked this year’s examination papers. According to them, their colleagues from other states across the country have since been paid the allowances.

WAEC: Three Killed, 200 injured as examination hall collapses



THREE pupils, including a girl, were killed and hundreds injured on Wednesday when a building in which they were writing the West African Examination Council School Certificate examination (WASCE) collapsed on them.
 
The incident occurred in Alpha Academy, a private secondary school in Mararaba, Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Some 560 candidates were writing the examination in Alpha Academy. Many of them complained of the cracks before the building came down on Wednesday.

Nigeria: Malpractice - WAEC NEC Vows to Cancel Entire Results





The Examination Committee (NEC) of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has concluded that the sanction on the council's rules and regulations for those indicted for malpractice in more than one subject should be reviewed from Cancellation of Subject Results (CSR) in only those subjects, to Cancellation of Entire Results (CER).
This was resolved at the communique issued at the end of the 55th meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) of the West African Examinations Council which held in Lagos.

WAEC Withholds 101,398 Results For Malpractices




LAGOS—West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has said that 101,398 candidates who sat for the 2012 May/June West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, will have their results  withheld for alleged involvement in examination malpractice.
