Latvia PM Quits after supermarket roof collapse that Claimed 54 lives



The Prime Minister of Latvia, Valdis Dombrovskis, resigned today Wednesday November 27th after saying he is politically accountable for the fail of a supermarket roof that killed 54 people and wounded at least 40 others last week, the Associated Press reports.
The roof of Maxima Supermarket positioned in Riga collapsed on Thursday November 21 eliminating a few people including three rescue workers. 39 others were seriously injured. The store collapse is said to be the worst disaster in Latvia since 1950. Dombrovskis, who was the longest-serving prime minister of Latvia (2009 - 2013) felt so responsible for the destructive incident that he resigned.

Supermarket receives 440 pounds cocaine inside Banana delivery




Supermarket workers were surprised to find a huge selection of pounds of cocaine inside a banana shipment, according to police reports in Denmark.
Police in Denmark stated that workers at a supermarket chain discovered over 440 pounds of cocaine inside a banana shipment from Colombia, last week.
Police Inspector Bent Isager-Nielsen stated that workers at the Brondby warehouse for supermarket chain Coop, found about 275 pounds of cocaine in a pallet of bananas and another 176 pounds of the drug were found in a shipment of bananas in a warehouse in Hasselager.

SSS Seeks Permission To Demolish Amigo Supermarket



A move has been initiated by the Department of State Security Service (DSS) to demolish Amigo Supermarket in Abuja following alleged discovery of boxes with arms in the complex.
The outfit is owned by some Lebanese who were recently linked with terrorism activities including providing cells for Hezbollah terror group in Kano.
An online organisation claimed that the SSS had requested the approval of President Goodluck Jonathan to demolish the supermarket. It added that the president had received the request by security agents but declined to grant it, more than a week after investigators sealed off the supermarket.
Last week, the media was awash with reports of the discovery of “boxes” containing arms during minor excavation works within Amigo.
