ASUU- Presidency received 50 Warning Letters Before ASUU Strike Began - Fagge



The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said that no fewer than 50 letters were written between 2011 and 2012 to the presidency to avert the ongoing strike.  ASUU president, Nasir Fagge, who was represented by, Olorunyomi Oju, a don, disclosed this at the 2013 World Human Rights Day celebration on Tuesday in Osogbo.

Asuu Strike Update: ASUU meets to decide the Fate of Students today (Read)



AS the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) meets today in Abuja, the issue of resumption from their five months-old strike will top the agenda of the meeting as expectations of Nigerians is to see the universities resume for lectures soonest.

The ASUU president, Comrade Nasir Isa Fagge’s demand that the Federal Government should show commitment of meeting the disbursement of N200 billion for the year 2013 allocation to the universities through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was said to have been met, according to the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Dr. Doyin Okupe, last week.

ASUU Strike update: FG extends resumption deadline for lecturers to 9th of Dec.



As a sign of regard to the late Prof Festus Iyayi, previous leader of ASUU, whose funeral rites starts tomorrow to Lay December 7th, the Federal Govt has chose to change its deadline for resumption of lecturers to Monday December 9.This was made known by the Government Secreatry of the Nigerian College Commision, Prof Julius Okojie while addressing  journalist in Abuja yesterday.

ASUU Vows to Continue with the ongoing strike



The People of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have vowed to carry on with the continuous attack before the Federal Government matches all their demands.
In a media briefing which were only available in Abuja in the evening of December 2, 2013, the Leader of ASUU, Nasir Fagge, declared the union "shall never be cowed."
"We shall bow only to what we as academics are convinced will serve the interest of Nigeria and its people, no matter their ethnic, religious or class origins. This is where we stand. We shall never be cowed," the leader of ASUU said.

ASUU STRIKE UPDATE: ASUU’s NEC Meeting Still Indefinite



The ASUU leader of University of Ibadan, Dr. Olusegun Ajiboye has denied reports claiming the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU was to hold it's National Executives Committee meeting yesterday as False.

According to him he claimed that there was no plan for such meeting.  Dr. Olusegun Ajiboye claimed that the report which made rounds on Saturday, that the National Executive Council, NEC, would hold an emergency meeting in Kano, were false.

4 Months Old ASUU Strike May Be Called Off At Tomorrow’s NEC Meeting





The 4 months old ASUU strike action by the Academic staff Union of Universities, ASUU may be suspended tomorrow, after positive negotiations between leaders of the Union and the President Jonathan Led Federal Government, Last week monday.
