The leadership of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) will study a bill on the special status of the eastern Ukrainian regions proposed by the country’s government and hopes that the measure will lead to peaceful settlement of the conflict, the DPR Deputy Prime Minister, Andrei Purgin said Monday.
“We are waiting for the bill, will study it. Hope for peaceful settlement,” Purgin said.
Earlier on Monday, the bill proposed by President Petro Poroshenko was submitted to the country’s parliament. The document in particular envisages holding local elections on November 9 and granting amnesty to independence fighters.
