CAF Should Call Referees To Order - Gullit

Former European footballer of the year, Ruud Gullit, has advised the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) to concentrate its energy at making refereeing friendly to teams.
The AC Milan’s former play maker said some questionable calls by referees at the on going Africa Cup of Nations could ruin all the gains as fans might begin to doubt the authenticity of champions when they emerge at the end of the tournament.
He hinged his argument on the questionable call by the centre referee against Nigeria at the edge of the box that resulted in Cote d’ Ivoire’s equalizing goal.
"It is sad that every match at the Africa Nations Cup has come with different complains of bad officiating. It does not speak well of a competition of this magnitude.
"I know that the referees are human that are prone to mistakes, but they must try as must as they can to minimize it."

At the match between Nigeria and Cote d’ Ivoire I did not see the need for the free kick that was awarded to Cote d’Ivoire at the edge of Nigeria’s box because there was no contact and that call resulted to Elephants equalizing goal.

"Do you know that if Nigeria had lost this match, she would have cried blue murder but thank goodness that she won.
"I will like to see improved level of officiating from the semifinal, so that nobody or team would feel cheated, he stressed."
