16 Wanted By The Police Over Murder In Enugu

Enugu State Police Command has said sixteen people are on its wanted list following the murder of a rights activist and politician, Ozioko Christopher Ejike Onah, aka Papa Nsukka, last week at his residence in Agbani- Nguru, in Nsukka Local Government Area of the state.
Sources said those being sought by the police participated in the murder of Onah.
The Agbani Nguru community paid a solidarity visit to Nsukka Divional Police Officer, DPO, James Nwokolo, to assure him that they were solidly behind the police in their efforts to get to the root of circumstances surrounding the murder.

A community leader in the area, Chief Ikechukwu Obayi, while briefing newsmen explained that the people of the community were law abiding citizens who do not harbour criminals of any kind, as he ruled out the allegation that Onah’s death had something to do with land dispute.
Obayi said the deceased, until his death, was the chairman of the land committee of Ogbagu Nkpunano.
He explained that the Agbani Nguru community had concluded plans to set up a committee to assist the police in their investigations to track down the killers.
Ebere Amarizu, Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer while reacting to the killing, said a case of malicious damage to property had earlier been reported against the deceased, pointing out that his killing could ‘’be a reprisal.’’
“Our major concern now is to conduct an autopsy but no arrest has been made,’’ Amarizu said.
