National Security Council meeting ends; GEJ asks security chiefs to go after missing girls



The extraordinary National Security Council meeting convened today by President Jonathan has ended with all members calling on all Nigerians to be security concious all the time saying security matter is one which concerns everyone. 

The council advocated for religious tolerance amongst all citizens and asked spiritual leaders to spread the gospel of practicing the many faiths without the type of acrimony.

Five male students of a Nigerian university landed into a big soup when they allegedly gang r*ped another young boy who nearly bled to death from the injuries he sustained from the assault.
Leadership learnt that one of the students, a 2nd year student whose name was given as Friday Desmond, had been lovers with the r*ped boy who name was given as George. He had promised to marry George as soon as he graduated from university. Their illicit love affair had been going on smoothly with both of them meeting regularly at selected places.

Under construction 2-storey building collapse at Oworonsoki, Lagos



A two-storey building under construction on Sea Beach lane at Oworonsoki, a suburb in Lagos state collapsed today April 24th leaving 4 children and 6 adults with various degrees of injury. Reports say the youngsters were on the website to help with menial jobs when the building gave way. 

The 10 victims were immediately rushed to the General Hospital Gbagada where they're all receiving treatment.

Family Die In Accra Building Collapse



In March this year, an uncompleted hotel building in Accra collapsed, killing one person and trapping five others.

A 28-year-old man and his 4-year-old daughter have died after the walls of their bedroom collapsed on them at Aninkruma near Barekuma in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of Ashanti.

National Conference kicks out Chairperson



The National Conference committee on Civil Society, Labour and Sports, among the ten committees at the on-going conference in Abuja, has sacked its chairperson, Bola Ogunrimade for absenteeism and has been replaced with her deputy, Issa Aremu.   The decision was carried out after a vote took place and majority of these voted her out. Mr Issa Aremu also told reporters that, Mrs Bola Ogunrinde hasn't turned up ever since the conference kicked off.

The police in Plateau State Nigeria have arrested a teacher with Bright Kids Academy, Barkin Ladi, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state, Chukwudi Boniface, for molesting and impregnating a 12-year-old primary three pupil in the school.
It was reported that the teacher had in Nov last year organised an extra-mural lesson, which was attended by only four pupils, including the victim.

Meet the ‘Mad Man’ caught with ₦4 Million, Human Parts & Ammunition in Benin



A man in Benin City, Edo State, who succeeded in fooling people into thinking he was mad, has turned out to be a ritual killer who specializes in selling human parts.

He was allegedly arrested around the Upper Sokponba road area of Benin with human parts, a gun, and N4 million cash.

The man, whose identity has not been revealed yet, had reportedly lived in a run down apartment for about two years, pretending to be a mad man.

Nine Bodies Washed Ashore After Easter Festivities In Tema, Ghana



 One more body has been retrieved at the Sakumono beach on Wednesday, bringing the total number of bodies washed ashore after the Easter Festivities to nine.

Eight bodies were washed ashore in two seperate beaches in Accra in what was suspected to be another holiday disaster.  Reports of revelers drowning in the sea during festive occasions are not new, but the drowning casualties after the Easter festivities appear to be increasing by the day.

This incident happened this afternoon along Patigi Road in Kwara State. Based on eye-witnesses, the policeman was tied and a number of his colleagues stopped a driver delivering telecoms equipment to a niche site at Patigi and allegedly demanded for money. When the driver refused to pay the money, a disagreement ensued and he was shot in the arm.. Following the shooting, a mob descended on the policemen but were only in a position to catch one as others ran away.

The main one caught was beaten and tangled up by a mob. 

Boko Haram Threatens to eliminate abducted childlren if search isn't Stopped



Boko Haram men have threatened to kill the school girls they abducted in early hours of April 15th if the search for them continues. That is after some Borno women beneath the auspices of BAOBAB Women's Right said they are intending to storm the Sambisa forest where in fact the abducted girls are considered to be held.

The ladies said since efforts by the military to rescue girls haven't worked up to now, it was time to let them to take matters into their hands as concerned mothers.

GEJ holds security meeting with Govs, spiritual leaders, heads of security agencies



President Jonathan this afternoon (meeting may still be going on as you read this) held a closed door meeting with some state governors, heads of security agencies, ministers and spiritual leaders in the country with a view of finding lasting solution to the security problems the nation is currently facing.
 
The meeting which started around 12.10 this afternoon has in attendance Willie Obiano (Anambra), Theodore Orji (Abia), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa), Gabriel Suswam (Benue), Martins Elechi (Ebonyi), Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Kashim Shettima (Borno), Aliyu Wamako (Sokoto), Ramalan Yero (Kaduna ), Garba Umar (Taraba), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Tanko Al-Makura (Nasarawa), Seidu Dakingari (Kebbi), Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo), Lyel Imoke (Cross River), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe) and Isa Yuguda (Bauchi).

Gombe spends N152m to mass wed 720 couples




The Gombe State Government says it spent N151.8 million on the mass wedding of 720 couples in the state.

The Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo, made this known during the wedding ceremony of the couples in Gombe on Tuesday.

Dankwambo said the amount was expended on the settlement of dowry, purchase of food items, textile materials, furniture, kitchen utensils, as well as take-off capital for the couples.

‘Nigeria has 1,400 illegal borders’



Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, David Parradang, on Wednesday said there were over 1,400 illegal routes into Nigeria with only 84 approved border control posts.
He made the shocking revelation when he appeared before the Committee on Immigration and Related Matters of the ongoing National Conference in Abuja.
“Whereas we have 84 approved border control posts across 4,000 sq. km., there are well over 1,400 illegal routes which are not manned. This has great security implications for the country,” he said.

 Singing duo MamuZEE TwiNs were attacked by armed robbers on Gwagwalada road, in Abuja yesterday April 22nd while returning from the immigration office. The gunmen, thought to be armed robbers, shot at them and shattered their car.

The Twins are still at a healthcare facility now, but are considered doing fine and will return home today.. More pics after the break...

Nollywood actor dies after battle with kidney ailment




Nollywood actor Chris Nkulor has offered after a struggle with a kidney related disease. He died yesterday at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching hospital Ile-Ife where he was undergoing treatment for the ailment. May his soul rest in peace. Ase.

Aftermath of Nyanya, Abuja Bomb blast: Military checkpoint causes Massive traffic gridlock



In the wake of the Nyanya bomb blast which occurred on Monday April 14th, which killed over 80 people, military checkpoints have been mounted at various strategic road junctions to double check human and vehicular activities in the FCT.
 
Motorists/workers say these checkpoints have grown to be a serious problem for them because they lose many useful hours in traffic with a number of them getting late to work and receiving queries.
