Pakistan gang-rape victim Amina Bibi dies after setting herself on fire



The 17-year-old Pakistani victim of a gang rape died on Fri Mar.14 after setting herself on fire in protest against a police report that led to the release of a key suspect, a doctor and her brother said.
College student Amina Bibi doused herself with petrol and then set it alight on Thursday outside a police station near the city of Muzaffargarh, in Pakistan's eastern province of Punjab.
A video shot by a bystander shows a woman in a headscarf  engulfed by flames, her face charred and distorted in agony.

Dubai Resident to set new Guinness World record for Bungee Jumping

The Guinness World Record attempt for the most bungee jumps in 24 hours is going to be taking place in Dubai on March 20 and 21 at the Porsche Macan 24-Bungee event at the Dubai Autodrome meant for Breast Cancer Arabia.
The jumper is Dubai resident, professional fitness coach Colin Phillips, who throughout the last 10 months has been doing numerous consecutive jumps every weekend in preparation for the official World Record attempt.

SHOCK: Zamfara Commissioner Assassinated By Unknown Gunmen



A commissioner with Zamfara state local government service commission, Alhaji Yusif Garba, was shot dead by three unidentified gunmen near his residence at Ungwar Zabarma of Tudun Wada area of the state capital, Gusau, on March 14, 2014, Friday. The suspects escaped immediately after the murder without robbing money from the victim.

Thirty five secondary school students with have been arrested by officials of the Nigeria Peace Corps in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.

The students with ages ranging between 13 and 16 were arrested over theor alleged involvement in cult related activities.

According to the commandant of the Nigeria Peace Corps, Ayinde Paul Kayode, they were reportedly apprehended while attending meetings in various schools.

Immigration Recruitment Pandemonium, four More People Die In Port Harcourt



According to Premium Times, hospital authorities at the Rivers government-owned Braithwaite Memorial Hospital in Port Harcourt have confirmed that four candidates died during a stampede at the Nigeria Immigration Service recruitment which took place at the Liberation Stadium this morning.

Syrian forces clearing out rebels from stronghold near Lebanon - military source



Syrian forces in Yabroud were in the final stages on Sunday of clearing out rebels holed up there for months and had begun dismantling roadside bombs laid by the militants, a military source told Reuters. Capturing Yabroud, the last major rebel bastion near the Lebanese border north of Damascus, would help President Bashar al-Assad secure the land route linking his Mediterranean coastal stronghold with the capital Damascus, and choke off a cross-border rebel supply line from Lebanon.

Mass street protests against Assad broke out three years ago and escalated into civil war after a violent security crackdown on demonstrators.

VIDEO: Boko Haram members killed in Maiduguri attack (Viewer Discretion Advised)



A large number of Boko Haram militants who launched attack on military barracks and other neighbourhoods of Maiduguri, Borno State, were reportedly killed Friday by the Nigerian security forces and members of vigilante group, referred to as the civilian-JTF.

The Boko Haram members had attacked Giwa Barracks and freed a number of the detainees nevertheless the military could actually pursue them and kill them.

Dad accused of killing his lesbian daughter and her girlfriend at his home




A devout Muslim man is being accused of killing his lesbian daughter and her girlfriend at his home. The bodies of Britney Cosby (pictured right in the pic) and Crystal Jackson (pictured left), both 24, were found behind a Dumpster in Texas on March 7th, but police believe they were killed somewhere else and later dumped there.

James Larry Cosby has been arrested and charged with two counts of evidence-tampering and police are planning to upgrade his charges to capital murder once they finish their investigation as all fingers point to him as the murderer because evidence has so far shown that the ladies were killed in his home. His daughter died from blows to the head while her girlfriend died from a gunshot wound....

Man blinds Married woman after she refused to s3x him



A 35-year old man, Arinze Kingsley, has left a married woman, Mrs Amaka Ohanwe, partially blind when she allegedly refused his sexual advances, PM News.
Amaka was seriously injured in her right eye when she was allegedly beaten up by Kingsley at a beauty salon. She said after undergoing several operations, the doctors at Apapa General Hospital confirmed that she cannot see with the eye again.
Following the assault, the police at Area ‘B’ Apapa arrested Kingsley and charged him with assault before Apapa Magistrate’s Court after which he was remanded in Kirikiri Prisons in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

IMMIGRATION RECRUITMENT: Several Feared Dead, Many Injured In Stampede In Abuja (Pics)





Today a large number of applicants across the country stormed different centres to write the aptitude test for the Nigerian Immigration Service(NIS). Applicants had together gathered in the Abuja stadium to write the aptitude test to apply for jobs with the immigration Service. There are reports that the stampede in the Abuja centre left at least seven people killed and dozens injured during the test in Abuja. However according to an eyewitness who was present at the scene, the casualties stated were more than that saying "It was up to fifty that were injured,and 25 were dead".

Ex-Ogun State Gov. Gbenga Daniel, Others Escape Air Mishap In Medview Airlines Plane (PHOTOS)



A Medview Airlines plane heading for Abuja this morning was made to have an emergency landing shortly after it took off at the Murtala Mohammed Airport (MM2) today, Saturday, March 15, 2014. According to reports the main engine of the aircraft caught fire and it had to quickly land to avert another air mishap. One of the passengers on board was former Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel.

Reflect on your time as Minister of Information. How was it?
In our time, we were known as federal commissioners. As a federal commissioner of information, I took over from the late Chief Anthony Enahoro who was  commissioner for special duties. He was charged with the responsibility of organising FESTAC ’77, but it was still under my ministry that the  memorandum was submitted. During that time, we had very few print media organisations. We had Daily Times and others but they were very few. We didn’t have private television stations.

350 killed in Boko Haram, Army clash



No fewer than 350 people lost their lives on Friday as the orgy of bloodletting in some parts of the country continued with the clash  between  Boko Haram insurgents  and the Special Forces in  Maimalari, Maiduguri, Borno State. The insurgents had attacked the 21 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army in the wee hours of Friday.
Saturday PUNCH learnt that the dead included insurgents who attacked the military formation and their members who were held at the biggest detention facility on the premises of the headquarters of the Brigade.
It was gathered that the insurgents targeted the detention facility within the 21 Armoury Brigade where most of the hardened members of the sect were detained.
