Picture: Jilted NURTW member sets ex-lover ablaze
Adesanmoye Kehinde, a senior official of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Ikotun Lagos branch, has been arrested and dragged to Ejigbo Magistrate Court in Lagos for allegedly setting his lover, Janet, 31, ablaze after she called off their relationship.
Kehinde, 43, who's married with three children, had been dating Delta state born Janet for some time and was planning to marry her. Janet however made a decision to call the affair off because she felt Kehinde was too troublesome. Continue...
Crimea, Sevastopol listed as constituent entities in Russia's Constitution
A new variant of the Russian fundamental law has been made public at the official internet portal of legal information on Friday.
Two new federal constituent entities have been included in the list in Article 65 of Chapter 3 of the Russian Constitution stipulating federal system of government in the country.

2015: Stay away from N’Delta, APC tells Jonathan
Rivers State Interim Chairman of the party, Dr. Ikanya Davies, said in a statement on Thursday that the President should avoid campaigning in the oil-rich region since his kinsmen had rejected him for disappointing them.
The statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the state APC chairman, Chief Chukwuemeka Eze, recalled that the former Bayelsa Governor, Mr. Timipreye Sylva, had declared that the majority of Bayelsa people were not happy with Jonathan and wanted a change.
THE All Progressives Congress has asked President Goodluck Jonathan and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party to stay away from the Niger Delta region in ahead of the 2015 general elections.
The APC stated that the President and the PDP had no moral directly to campaign for re-election in the Niger Delta because of the alleged neglect of the region.

₦979.6m Subsidy Fraud: EFCC Says Suspects Have Escaped To Canada
One of the major oil marketers on the wanted list of the EFCC, Mr Oluwaseun Ogunbambo, may have fled to Canada.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, told an Ikeja High Court on Thursday that the suspect fled to Canada to avert justice.
Mr Oluwaseun is charged with receiving 979.6million Naira from the Federal Government without supplying any petroleum product.

$510bn GDP overnight: FG has ridiculed itself, says APC
The All Progressives Congress has dismissed Nigeria’s rebased Gross Domestic Product as a public relations gimmick of the Federal Government. The party, in a statement in Washington DC, United States by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the Federal Government had by the rebased GDP only succeeded in ridiculing itself.
But the Federal Government insisted that the emergence of Nigeria as Africa’s largest economy would guarantee prosperous future for Nigerian youths.
Aluu 4 Update: Mob overwhelmed police team, Says Accused
A former police sergeant facing murder charge over the killing of four University of Port Harcourt students told a High Court that the mob overwhelmed a police team sent to rescue the students. The accused, Lucky Orji, was charged along with 11 other persons in connection with the killing in Aluu Village in October 2012. Some other suspects are still at large.
Orji told the court today Thursday April 10th that the police patrol team, of which he was a member, could not rescue the students because it was overwhelmed by the mob numbering about 3,000.
Mr. Orji, the 2nd accused person, added that the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of the area had ordered the team to pull out of the scene of the incident....

Nigerian Child bride rat-poisons (Shinkafa Bera) partner & three of his buddies in Kano
A 14 year old child bride who was simply forced into marriage in Kano the other day, has reportedly killed her new husband and three of his friends with rat poison.
Wasila Umaru was forced to marry to 35 year old Umaru Sani sometime last week. During the tiny wedding which took place in the northern Ungwar Yansoro village, at Gaya LGA near the town of Kano, the reluctant bride allegedly slipped rat poison into a grain dish that has been eaten by the groom and a number of his friends.
According to Kano State Police Command, ASP Musa Majiya, the groom, one Nasiru Mohammed, Alhassan Alhassan, and a female named Indo Ibrahim died after eating the meal. Continue...

Nigeria prone to Ebola Disease - FG
The Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, has stated that Nigeria is currently vulnerable to contacting the deadly Ebola virus which includes been spreading across neighboring West African countries in recent times. The virus which first broke out in Guinea in January this season, is said to haven't any vaccine at the moment and has killed a total of 87 individuals with 137 cases reported considering that the outbreak.

31year old Blessing Aransiola (pictured) was nabbed in the first hours of today April 10th allegedly wanting to steal a 12 months old girl, Oreoluwa Adanri, from her home at Ademola Coker Street, Alagbole, Ogun State, PM News reports.
Narrating what happened, Oreoluwa's mother, Mrs Adanri said Blessing gained entrance into their home around 4am by tearing their window net while they slept. She said she was woken up by the cry of her daughter in the hands of the suspect.

Blessing was arrested and immediately taken up to the Ajuwon station where she will be held for kidnapping. Continue..

A fallen high tension wire has electrocuted six people in Oworonshoki area of Lagos, southwest Nigeria. The incident happened in the early hours of today April 10th while it was raining. The tragedy occurred at Onabanjo Street, Oworonshoki around 2.00am. It was gathered that the high tension wire cut into two as a result of the heavy rain.
The high tension wire cut and fell across a drainage channel and caught fire when it came in contact with wood. Two vehicles parked beside the wood were burnt by the fire ignited by the wood. The incident occurred in front of houses on number 6 to 10 on the street. While the fire that burnt the vehicles was raging, residents raise the alarm for others to escape from the scene.

Boko Haram sects yesterday April 9th bombed a police station, a bank and a Sharia Court in Gwaram Sabuwa, Gwaram LGA of Jigawa State killing at the 4 policemen, one civilian, with quite several others sustaining various levels of injury.
Based on eye witnesses, the men, about 20 in number came in motorcycles and other vehicles, operated from 1am to 2am unhindered. They later told the villagers that they'd be back again if they continue sending their children to school, operating football viewing centres and accepting polio vaccines.
