The interim Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ward 9 in Umuogerem Obibi, Etche in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Chimezie Anucha, was shot dead by assassins on Sunday, April 6, 2014.
The incident happened between 7 and 8am at Achara Obibi area of the state.
According to report, Mr Chimezie who was also Chairman of Community Development Committee (CDC) of Obibi community had received a phone call asking him to come to Achara for a business deal. He was on his way, when he had a flat tyre and while trying to replace it, the assassins stormed the scene after they reportedly got information that he was in town.

FG ordered to pay families of Apo killing ₦10million each
On Friday Sept. 20th, military men stormed an uncompleted building behind Legislator’s Quarters in Apo, Abuja and shot dead 8 people.
Now the families of all 8 victims are to be paid N10m each by the Federal Government as damages, while the 11 people who sustained various injuries during the attack are to be awarded N5m each.

The Lamido of Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Mustapha, again on Tuesday stoked a fresh controversy at the ongoing National Conference when he gave a stringent condition for a 100 per cent resource control.
He also kicked against autonomy for ethnic nationalities in Nigeria, saying it would give room for many demands.
In a tacit reference to the people of the Niger-Delta who have been clamouring for resource control, Mustapha said they should be ready to lose their lands in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday met behind closed doors with a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Fani-Kayode, who is one of the major critics of the Jonathan administration, attended the meeting which was held inside the President’s office with an unidentified man.
He, however, told state house correspondents at the end of the meeting that lasted about an hour, that there was nothing unusual in his visit to the President, saying he was delighted he did so.
“This is a Presidential Villa, the President is a President of Nigeria and every single person in this country that is a Nigerian is entitled to come here from time to time, when the doors are open to come and pay their respect to the wonderful people that are here. As a Nigerian, I have done that today and I am delighted to be here,” he said.

Former Oyo State Governor Rasheed Ladoja, some serving Senators, members of the National Conference who were returning to Abuja yesterday were among those onboard an Overland aircraft with registration Number 5NBPE that had to make a quick detour after the pilot noticed a crack on the windshield of the aircraft. The aircraft took off from Ibadan Airport in Oyo state and was heading to Abuja when the pilot noticed a cracked windshield as they entered into Minna, Niger state airspace.

Factory worker, Allegedly R*ped A Mad Woman In Lagos, Say's "He Suddenly Felt a S*xual Urge"
A 23-year-old factory worker, Tope Akanji, who allegedly attempted to r*pe a lunatic in the wee hours, was on Friday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, whose address is unknown, is standing trial on a charge of attempted r*pe.
The prosecutor, Insp. Edet Okoi, told the court that the accused committed the offence at about 1.00 a.m. on April 3 at Sobiotimo Street, Dopemu in Agege area of Lagos.

Father Kills 2-Year-old Son & Buries Him Secretly In Ejigbo Lagos
The police at Ejigbo division have begun a manhunt for a man who allegedly beat his 2-year old son to death and buried him secretly in Lagos, western Nigeria.
The suspect identified as Oni Mama reportedly beat Deji to death while the boy was crying and running after him in the morning.
The incident happened at 5 Fashola Street, Ejigbo, Lagos, where the suspect resides.
It was learnt after the boy died in the presence of the neighbours, his father packed the body into a sack and buried him secretly at an undisclosed location in the area.

A court in Egypt sentenced four men to up to eight years in prison on Monday for practicing homos3xuality, a judicial official said.
Prosecutors had accused the men of holding “deviant parties” and dressing in women’s clothes. Three were sentenced to eight years and the fourth to three years in prison.
