Air Canada buys 61 Boeing 737s for $6.5 bn
Air Canada announced Wednesday it had placed a firm $6.5 billion order for 61 Boeing 737 MAX narrow-body aircraft, with options on 18 more planes and purchase rights for 30 others. The order - which comes as the airline seeks to replace its aging Airbus A320 and A321 fleet - concerns 33 of the MAX 8 version of the 737, and 28 of the MAX 9 aircraft.

ASUU- Presidency received 50 Warning Letters Before ASUU Strike Began - Fagge
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said that no fewer than 50 letters were written between 2011 and 2012 to the presidency to avert the ongoing strike. ASUU president, Nasir Fagge, who was represented by, Olorunyomi Oju, a don, disclosed this at the 2013 World Human Rights Day celebration on Tuesday in Osogbo.

ASUU STRIKE: "All Issues Resolved"
The Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike has disclosed that all contending issues between the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Federal Government have been resolved.
He made the disclosure in a statement following his meeting with the leadership of the union on Wednesday.
He also lauded the patriotism and strong will demonstrated by members of the union to uplift the standard of education in the country.

Ex- Nigerian diplomat in court for allegedly demanding S-ex from female colleague.

A doctor and former diplomat grabbed a female colleague from behind and thrust himself towards her before exposing himself and suggesting she performed a sex act, a tribunal heard. Dr Chukwuma Igbokwe, 46, also asked the woman for sex on his desk, it has been claimed.

An apparently angry and frustrated ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo has written what clearly competes as one of the most acerbic letters in modern history to President Goodluck Jonathan, accusing him of ineptitude and of taking actions calculated at destroying Nigeria.
“Nigeria is bleeding and the hemorrhage must be stopped,” Mr. Obasanjo said in the 18-page letter dated December 2, 2013 and exclusively obtained by PREMIUM TIMES Tuesday.

"Lots of cheques that people donated bounced" OJB says in new interview
During a recent interview with HipHop World magazine, OJB said that many cheques given to him towards his kidney transplant, bounced.
There are well meaning and bitter people in Naija. Most people were just complaining and these people didn’t even donate. All the figures flying in the air then were just fake and make-belief from different angles because if we had the money we wouldn’t have the governor donate N16million.

Heartless: “He flushed the toilet at the wrong time” – says Landlord who beat his tenant to death
A 65-year old person, Adebayo Akinrinlade, was recently charged to court for practically beating his tenant, Uche Jordan to death.
Akinrinlade was arraigned before a Tinubu Magistrate Judge in Lagos.
The person who lives at No. 40, Church Road, Aboru, Iyana-Ipaja, is facing a one-count charge of unlawful beating, leading to death.

The Prosecutor, Chidi Okoye, said that the accused committed the offence on April 1, at No. 40, Church Street, Aboru, Iyana-Ipaja.

Cairo police again uses tear gas against protesters, injures 6 people
In the heart of Cairo one can again smell tear gas. Clashes occurred in the world's largest Islamic University Al-Azhar. Several hundred students, supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood, disrupted educational lectures, and then went to the streets and blocked several highways.Islamists threw stones, firecrackers and bottles at the arrived police.A similar situation occurred in the square near the University of Cairo.There they also had to deal with students using tear gas grenades. Six people got injured.
