The Defence Headquarters is studying the claims made in the video purportedly released by the terrorists showing their leader Abubakar Shekau as dismissing his death. Poroshenko’s Statement That Ukraine Conflict Can End by September Far From Reality - DPR

The Kiev authorities’ statements that conflict in eastern Ukraine can be ended by September are idealistic and far from reality, Deputy Prime Minister of Donetsk People’s Republic Andrei Purgin said in an interview with RIA Novosti Saturday.

"Their statements are of Martian nature, these people are dwelling in an emerald garden on Mars and commenting on the situation, which has nothing to do with reality. In fact, all these comments are often made not for internal use but for external use, for Europe. Such claims hit the headlines, then the IMF allocates money, so their goal is to get money from the IMF," Purgin said.

A 2nd response to Lai Mohammed & APC's second statement

Femi Fani Kayode releases another statement which he says is his final reaction to Lai Mohammed and the APC's latest response to him.

"I read the second response of Lai Mohammed and the APC to my comments which appeared in yesterday's newspapers. Does this so-called spokesman for Nigeria's opposition party have nothing better to do than to join issues with me on a daily basis? It is reinvigorating and humbling to note that Nigeria's main opposition party can dedicate and deploy so much time and so many resources just to tackle me. I shall ignore the childish name-calling coming from a supposedly serious-minded political party that is looking for power. One wonders what you would do to your perceived enemies if, God-forbid, you ever get that power.

The Federal Government has reacted to the news that they ordered 53 gold gold-plated iPhone 5S for N682million. The report went viral after the CEO of Gold and Co., UK, Amjad Ali, told UK newspaper, The Independent, that our government ordered these phones from his firm as part of the memorabilia for the nation’s 53rd Independence anniversary on October 1, 2013. Jonathan's government has denied this and issued a statement. Find it below...
We consider the reports in a section of the media claiming that the Nigerian government had ordered customized gold iPhones from a Dubai-based company to mark the country’s 53rdindependence anniversary in October not only false and misleading, but utterly mischievous.

Continue after the break.

Ribadu’s statement on Nigeria reckless –Presidency ( What Do You think ?)

The Presidency on Monday faulted a statement credited to a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, which likened Nigeria to a sinking ship.
It described the statement as reckless. The Presidency’s position was contained in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati.  Ribadu had in his address delivered at a public lecture organised by the Students’ Representatives Council of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State on Saturday,  described Nigeria’s democracy as one full of tyranny.
But Abati described the statement as false, hypocritical and self-serving. He said far from being tyrannical as Ribadu alleged,  Jonathan would continue to strengthen institutions of democratic governance in Nigeria, uphold the fundamental human rights of all Nigerians including the youth, and protect their right to elect leaders in free, fair and credible elections.

Statement On The Arrest And Detention Of LEADERSHIP Journalists

After 48 hours of nightmare, four journalists with LEADERSHIP who were detained by the police on the orders of President Goodluck Jonathan were released last night.
Two of them – Mr. Tony Amokeodo and Mr. Chibuzo Ukaibe – were, however, released conditionally: they have been asked to report at the police headquarters by 10am every day for undisclosed reasons.
We wish to restate that these conditions are obnoxious and unacceptable in any democratic society.
Our journalists do not work for the police and have no business reporting to the police headquarters while earning their pay at LEADERSHIP.

Below is a statement released by M-Net...
It has been confirmed that a fire broke out yesterday afternoon (Saturday March 2, 2013) at the Ojoto Studios facility, which is home to both M-Net and SuperSport productions in Nigeria.  At this time, the fire is under control and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze. Whilst the fire appears to have caused significant damage to the facility, which may result in some screening delays for programs recorded on site, M-Net and SuperSport are already hard at work with a view to resuming production as soon as possible in order to minimize any impact on viewing audiences at home.  Further M-Net, SuperSport and MultiChoice are deeply thankful and grateful that no-one was injured during this unfortunate incident.

Press statement from Aviation Minister, Princess Stella Oduah

The Minister of Aviation, Mrs Stella Oduah posted this message on her Facebook page yesterday. Some people are panicking...:-). See it below..
We have uncovered an advanced plot by a well-known hireling to blackmail, smear and tarnish the image and reputation of the Honourable Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Adaeze Oduah with the sole aim of distracting her from consolidating the gains already recorded in the transformation of the Aviation sector in line with the Transformation Agenda of the Federal government.
Our very reliable sources indicate that the hireling, who has been paid huge sums of money running into several millions of naira to execute the hatchet job will employ a very familiar strategy of calling a Press Conference to carry out his mischief and peddle his falsehood.
