Russia Suspends Operation at 4 McDonald's Restaurants in Moscow over Food Safety

Russia's consumer rights watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, said Wednesday it had suspended operations at four McDonald's restaurants in Moscow after numerous violations of sanitary regulations had been found at popular fast food outlets.

"Inspections of other outlets pertaining to this chain will continue," the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection said in a statement.

"We are studying the claims to determine the measures we need to take in order to accelerate the opening of restaurants for our visitors. McDonald's chief priority is the provision of quality and safe products," according to the statement made by the company.

All McDonald's in Poland shut down over bomb scare

All of over 300 McDonald’s restaurants across Poland were evacuated on Tuesday night after a bomb threat, Gazeta.pl news portal reported. The portal reported citing Krzysztof Klapa, a spokesman for McDonald’s company in Poland, that an anonymous telephone call warned about a bomb in one of the McDonald’s restaurants, but did not specify which one. “Since we never ignore such calls, we immediately warned the police and it took measures across whole Poland,” he was cited as saying. Reuters reported citing Mariusz Sokolowski, a spokesman for the Polish police, that it was a false alarm and law enforcers were currently focused on finding the perpetrator.
