The government said on Sunday that the curfew followed “volatile security situation”, which caused loss of lives and property in the local government.  This was contained in a statement by the Deputy Permanent secretary, Security and Special Service, Government House, Ahamdu Baji.  The statement read, “Following volatile security situation and attendant loss of lives and property and displacement of people, Adamawa Statement Govenement has imposed 24 hours curfew on Madagali Local Government Area.

“The Acting Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, extends heartfelt to all those affected and assures that Government will do everything possible to mitigate their hardship.”The government appealed to the citizens in the area, urging them to cooperate and observe the curfew strictly.
In another development, the government denied a Facebook account opened in the name of the acting governor, Fintiri.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Acting Governor, Solomon Kumangar,  said, “The Acting Governor Ahamadu Umaru Fintiri has nothing to do whatsoever with the Facebook Account, his aides, associates or any member of the government.”The statement said the Facebook account contained false and fabricated information created by fraudster for the purpose of mischief.

It added that “any item(s) posted on the Facebook account is not from the acting governor and should therefore not be associated with him anywhere. The Acting Governor dissociates himself with any comment or response posted by so called friends or proxies on the Facebook account.”
