Oyinlola Supports My Ambition — Omisore

Senator Iyiola Omisore, candidate representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, has declared that he enjoys a cordial relationship with the immediate former governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.

Omisore said this in rebuttal of claims in political circles of a feud between the two prominent members of the PDP, which fuelled claims that Oyinlola was defecting to the APC.
Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s visit to Oyinlola, whose government he criticised heavily when he became governor further fuelled the claims.

Maintaining however, that Oyinlola remained a leader in the PDP, Omisore declared that “Oyinlola is solidly behind us in the mission to rescue Osun state from squanders.”  Omisore, who spoke through the Director General of his campaign organisation, Chief Lere Oyewumi during an interaction with newsmen in Osogbo noted that “Oyinlola is still with us in the PDP and he is solidly in support of our ambition.”

On the defection of some Oyinlola’s loyalists to the APC, Omisore said:
Oyinlola himself came out openly to declare that he is still in the PDP, notwithstanding the defection of some of his loyalists to the APC.”

He stressed that Oyinlola had in recent times held meetings with other leaders of the PDP, saying that “Oyinlola cannot abandon the PDP at this stage, having led the party for several years with monumental achievements.”

“We cannot do away with Oyinlola. We will keep referring to him as a leader of the party. He built solid foundation for the PDP in the state for seven and a half years. Even those in the APC refer to Bola Ige and Awolowo as their leaders and these characters did not have anything doing with Awolowo and Ige while alive,” he said.
According to him “as I talk to you, Prince Oyinlola still relates with us in the PDP and the relationship we have with him is a very cordial one. By the grace of God we will together celebrate the victory of PDP come August 9, this year.”
