Former Kogi State First Lady, Hajiya Zainab Idris Slumps & Dies During Morning Praye



The wife of Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, a former governor of Kogi State, Hajiya Zainab Idris is dead. She was said to have slumped and died while about performing the early morning Islamic prayers on Saturday. It was also learnt that her surprising death was a great shock to both her family members and residents of the state as she was said to have appeared healthy on Friday night before her shocking demise on Saturday of an undisclosed ailment.

The death was said to have devastated her family members including her husband Idris, the current Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, his wife, Halima and the state’s deputy governor, Mr. Yomi Awoniyi. Our correspondent also learnt that all planned functions by the governor, his wife and his deputy were all cancelled as a form of respect and mourning for the deceases. It was also gathered that the deceased had been buried according to Islamic rites amidst encomiums and eulogies.

Halima, according to her media consultant, Abubakar Yusuf, described her predecessor’s death as a big loss to the state, the entire nation, and womanhood in general. She added that the death of Zainab had created a vacuum that will linger for a long time. It was gathered that condolence register had been opened at the office of the Kogi First Lady for the deceased.
