Lagos State Government has said the compliance by the tax payers in prompt payment of tax is due to the confidence they repose in the Government as well as their witness to delivery of democratic dividends by the State Government.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Taxation, Mr. Bola Shodipo disclosed this at the Press briefing to commemorate the 3rd year and 2nd term of Mr. Babatunde Fashola administration in the State.
He said the number of Tax payers in the State now stands at 4, 216 751 as against about 2.8 million in the last two years while 65, 572 of this taxpayers are yet to collect their electronic tax clearance certificate (E-TCC) cards.
Shodipo said 646, 273 properties were enumerated in the State as against 642, 905 in the previous year with additional 3, 368 newly developed properties.
He said the State has licensed 3 public online lottery, 6 sports betting operators, 1 scratch card and interactive operator and 37 promotional competition licenses, while pools betting industry in the State has been sanitised under full regulation and monitoring.
The special Adviser said the State Government has streamlined the wharf landing fee in the State to eliminate arbitrary charges by each of the Local Government authorities in the State and ease the burden of haulage from the seaports.
The managing Director of the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) George Noah in his contribution said the agency is fully prepared for the 2015 election advertisement management in the State adding that presently, the State has about 20, 000 illegal posters pasted around the State daily.
Mr. Babatunde Fowler, the Chairman of the State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) said the agency is making sure that its welfare policy for its staff is of high standard as it not only make the tutorials for the professional examination free for the staff but also paid their examination fees.
