Treatment for Cellulite

What is Cellulite?
Cellulite is just a condition in which your skin seems to have areas with underlying fat deposits, giving it a dimpled, lumpy appearance. It is most noticeable on the buttocks and thighs, and usually occurs after puberty. Cellulite can also be known in the medical field and as orange peel syndrome, cottage cheese skin, hail damage, and the mattress phenomenon in colloquial language.
Although cellulite can affect both sexes, it is far more common in females, mainly as they are prone to have particular forms of fat and connective tissue.

Cellulite is often classified using three grades:
•Grade 1 cellulite sees no clinical symptoms, but a microscopic examination of cells from the area detects underlying anatomical changes.
•Grade 2 cellulite requires the skin to show pallor (pastiness), be lower temperature, and have decreased elasticity, in addition to anatomical changes noted by microscopic examinations.
•Grade 3 cellulite has visible roughness of the skin (like an orange peel) along with all grade 2 signs.

What causes Cellulite?
The causes of cellulite are not well understood, but there are several theories that have been put forth as explanations. Among these are:
•Hormonal factors - hormones likely play an important role in cellulite development. Many believe oestrogen, insulin, noradrenaline, thyroid hormones, and prolactin are part of the cellulite production process.
•Genetics - certain genes are required for cellulite development. Genes may predispose an individual to particular characteristics associated with cellulite, such as gender, race, slow metabolism, distribution of fat just underneath the skin, and circulatory insufficiency.
•Diet - people who eat too much fat, carbohydrates, or salt and too little fibre are likely to have greater amounts of cellulite.
•Lifestyle factors - cellulite may be more prevalent in smokers, those who do not exercise, and those who sit or stand in one position for long periods of time.
•Clothing - underwear with tight elastic across the buttocks (limiting blood flow) may contribute to the formation of cellulite.

Can Cellulite be cleared?
There are several therapies that have been suggested to remove Cellulite, but we will be discussing Mesotherapy and Exilis Treatment.

What is Mesotherapy Treatment?
Mesotherapy treatment is a non-surgical cosmetic solution aimed at diminishing problem areas in your body such as cellulite, excess weight, body contouring, and face/neck rejuvenation, just to name a few. It is administered via numerous injections containing various types of FDA approved medicines, vitamins, and minerals.
Mesotherapy should only be performed by a cosmetic dermatologist, a plastic surgeon or a licenced Physician.

Mesotherapy treatment for Cellulite:
The Injections are introduced into the mesoderm, the layer of fat and tissue underneath the skin. Mesotherapy, works by improving the micro-circulation, dissolving and shrinking fat cells, removing/improving fibrous connective tissue, and improving lymphatic drainage.
There are virtually no side effects with Mesotherapy, aside from occasional slight bruising.
Exilis Treatment for Cellulite:
Exilis is a radio-frequency device that is a FDA approved.
The Exilis procedure is the latest addition among the most effective cosmetic ways of reducing and eliminating excess and unwanted cellulite. Exilis is a cellulite treatment that is FDA approved technology and is primarily based on the medical marvels of radiofrequency or RF energy’s capabilities in terms of body shaping and circumferential reduction of targeted fatty deposits on the body.

•Exilis reaches therapeutic thermal temperature rapidly
•Exilis delivers more energy over shorter period of time
•System intelligence eliminates energy peaks, preventing discomfort
•EFC helps reduce risk of skin burns
During the procedure, the Exilis computer-controlled delivery device is guided over the treatment area. You will feel a deep heating sensation as the Exilis RF energy is delivered to the deeper layers of the skin. The therapy causes the collagen support tissues to remodel and tighten. The underside of the applicator provides cooling to your skin’s surface, and the built-in thermometer lets the operator maintain constant temperatures keeping you more comfortable during the treatment.
