7 more girls escape from Boko Haram captivity




Seven more girls from the 100+ girls that were abducted from Government Girls Secondary School Chibok, Borno state on April 14th have escaped the Boko Harem den. According to the Borno State Governor, Kashim Settima who revealed this during his Easter message to the state, the girls escaped between Saturday night and Sunday evening and have reunited with their families. He explained from the 129 that were kidnapped, 52 have reunited with their families while 77 are yet to be found. 
 

Gunmen attack secondary school staff quarters today, kill 5-year-old



Boko Haram men in the early hours of today April 20th attacked the Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Yana, killing a 5year old girl and setting some buildings in the staff quaters ablaze. 

The Bauchi State Police spokesperson, DSP Haruna Mohammed while confirming the incident said the gunmen stole a private vehicle belonging to the Principal of the School and also destroyed a bank vault

Model vows to kill 4 months pregnancy so she could pursue fame




 An aspiring glamour model who said she wants an abortion so she could appear on Big Brother has today revealed her growing baby bump, UK Daily Mail reports

Josie Cunningham, 24, sparked outrage when she had a £4,800 breast enlargement operation on the NHS. She is now four months pregnant after falling into a life of prostitution.
Yesterday, the aspiring model said she planned to abort the child to further her television career. She told Sunday Mirror; "An abortion will further my career. This time next year I won't have a baby. Instead I'll be famous, driving a bright pink Range Rover and buying a big house. Nothing will get in my way. I want to be famous for being me - Josie Cunningham, a glamour model in my own right. If I want to do that I need to put my career first.'

Californian Stowaway: Teenager survives flight over Pacific in jet wheel well





A teenaged boy has survived a flight from California to Hawaii in the wheel well of a jetliner, an airline said on Sunday.

The 16-year-old, who was not identified, was spotted by airline personnel after Hawaiian Airlines flight 45 landed in Maui on Sunday morning on a flight from San Jose, California, the airline said, as reported by Reuters. The workers then notified security.

Ogun police arrest Arab for robbery



The Ogun State Police Command has arrested an Arab, Ali Mohammed, for robbery. Ali, according to state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, was arrested by policemen attached to the Ibafo Police Division on Sunday at Moko near Ibafo around 2am. Adejobi said, “The policemen had responded to a distress call from the area. About four armed men had burgled into a house and were robbing the occupants in the area. The policemen dislodged them and arrested one of them.
“The Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, has instructed the Divisional Police Officer in Ibafo station to look for the fleeing robbers and apprehend them; and also reduce crimes in the area.”

B'Haram claims responsibility for Abuja blast



The leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, claimed responsibility for a bombing in Abuja that killed at least 75 people in Abuja.  Agence France-Presse  last Sunday reports that Shekau made the claim in a video message it obtained on Saturday.
“We are the ones that carried out the attack in Abuja,” Shekau said in the 28-minute video, referring to the deadly attack in Nigeria’s capital which targeted a bus station packed with morning commuters.
Seated with a Kalashnikov resting on his left shoulder and dressed in military uniform, the insurgent commander spoke in both Arabic and the Hausa language that is dominant in northern Nigeria.

Prof. Wole Soyinka, others decry influx of foreigners.



Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka some academics and researchers have expressed worry over unchecked influx of foreigners into Nigeria’s territory.  This is contained in a communiqué issued on Thursday at the end of a three- day colloquium organised by the Centre for Black Culture and International Understanding.
Soyinka, who is the chairman of CBCIU, was among the participants at the colloquium which also had Christian leaders, Islamic  leaders and  traditional religions adherents in attendance.

Police kill 5 robbers in Cross River



No fewer than five suspected armed robbers were on Saturday killed after  a shootout with the authorities in Akpabuyo Local Government Part of Cross River State.
Other suspects were said to have escaped with various levels of injuries.
An eyewitness, Nya Moses, a resident of Akpabuyo, said he counted at the least five dead bodies following the encounter which lasted for many minutes.

He was, however, uncertain of the amount of those that escaped. He added that the gang have been terrorising the neighbourhood for some time.

“I can assure you that five of the suspected armed robbers were killed by the police during the shootout. I counted the lifeless bodies before they were removed by the police. I am not too certain of those who escaped,” he said.

Nigerian students in Malaysia cry for justice, write open letter



Nigerian Students studying in Malaysia have written an open letter to President Jonathan seeking his intervention in what they described since the continued injustice meted to them by the Malaysian police authorities. 

The students under the aegis, National Association of Nigerian Students Asia, in their letter that has been signed by the President of the association, Prince David O.C Nwaogwugwu, cataloged cases of undue police harassment faced by some Nigerian students and also accused the Nigerian Consulate staff in Malaysian to be non-nonchalant towards the harassment and victimization they've faced in recent times.

What Do You Remember About The Late Nollywod actor, Sam Loco Efe?



The late Nollywod actor, Sam Loco Efe, was one of the most loved actors in the country and his movies were always must watch and sell-outs.  But 2 yrs ago, the talented and multi-lingual Sam Loco died of heart attack while shooting a film in Owerri, the Imo State capital in South East Nigeria.  Though he's gone, Sam Loco Efe continues to be loved by many. We want you to let us knoe what you remember and miss concerning the late actor.
