TRAGIC: Chieftaincy Tittle Tussle Takes Lives of around 20 People in Cross River state, Calabar.




As tourists from various countries arrive the capital of Cross River State, Calabar, for the 2013 Carnival, the people of Ofodua in Obubra LGA have been thrown into mourning and disarray with the killing of about 20 people by some hoodlums over a chieftaincy tussle. According to Leadership, over 20 people were slain and property, including residential buildings, motorcycles, assorted cars, refrigerators and electronics and etc., worth over a billion naira, was destroyed.

12-Year-Old Boy Jailed For Impregnating 28-Year-Old Housemaid




A 12-year-old boy accused of having consensual s-ex with his family's housemaid and impregnating her has been acquitted.

The Emirati schoolboy and the 28-year-old Ethiopian maid were said to have indulged in two se-xual encounters at his family's home in Ajman, one of the seven United Arab Emirates, in June.
Prosecutors accused the pair of having s-ex outside of marriage.  The dalliances, they said, resulted in the maid falling pregnant. Medical reports confirmed the 28-year-old is due to give birth in February.

Conoil Filling Station, Abuja, on Fire After an Explosion (Pics)




An explosion rocked a few houses across from the offices of the Nigeria National Oil Corporation (NNPC) in Abuja. Based on eyewitnesses, a petrol tanker discharging fuel exploded at the Conoil service station opposite the NNPC creating in Abuja. The huge fireball can be viewed in areas around Abuja. There's no record of casualty due to the explosion. A lot more than 8 fire fighting vehicles have exhausted their material but fire still rages on

 The Nkwerre Vigilante Network this week arrested a six-man gang specialized in the sale of human parts for rituals and transplant in Nkwerre, Imo State. The men confessed to kidnapping their victims at various locations in the state and using their parts for ritual purposes. Some parts they sold to people who needed them for transplant. Yeah, there are people like this amongst us.

Pic: Person Nearly Stabs Friend To Death With Broken Bottle In Lagos




A man called Sadiq Afolabi (pictured above) was stabbed with a canned and almost killed by his friend called Lawal Alarape during a fight at a club in Alagbado Lagos on Monday evening December 2nd.

Lawal was arrested by the police on Monday evening but has since been released while Sadiq is still in a healthcare facility struggling for his life, a member of family informed us. They somewhat want the story out to allow them to get justice for their relative. The case will be handled by the police at Ijaiye Ojokoro authorities station, Alagbado. Leader Jonathan, Wife Check Into German Hospital.



SaharaReporters has learnt that President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan, today checked in at a hospital in Germany.

Last night, Mr. Jonathan had abruptly flown out of Abuja ostensibly to attend a Summit on peace and security in Africa that is organized by the French government. Several ministers and service chiefs accompanied the president to the airport for the late night flight, but only a handful of officials traveled on the actual flight.

Leader of the defunct Niger Delta Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, has lambasted president Goodluck Jonathan for openly confronting former president, Olusegun Obasanjo.
Dokubo-Asari while speaking at a press conference in Abuja recently declared that Jonathan has no reason whatsoever to disagree with Obasanjo because he manipulated the process that illegally removed Diepreye Alamieyeseigha as governor of Bayelsa State and installed him (Jonathan) as governor.

Is this story for real? According to a report by Daily Trust, the Nigerian Senate is set to pass law seeking 7 year jail term for social media critics.

The newspaper reports that the Senate has reached an advanced stage to pass a bill that seeks seven years jail term for social media critics found guilty of inciting the public against the government. 

The proposed legislation which has scaled second reading in the upper legislative chamber is also proposing a stiffer punishment for internet fraudsters and scammers in Nigeria as those convicted will face a seven years imprisonment. 

Defence Headquarters To Try Over 500 Boko Haram Suspects, Releases 167




Nigeria has set free 167 of the 1400 Boko Haram suspects being held in Maiduguri and other locations in North-East Zone, but will try 500 other suspects. The decision follows the recommendations of a Joint Investigation Team set up by Defence Headquarters. This disclosure is contained in a statement by the Director, Defence Information, Brig-Gen. Chris Olukolade, and it comes two days after Boko Haram’s ferocious attacks on Nigeria’s military facilities in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Archbishop Sold Invisible Land for ₦7 Million in Lagos.



A self-acclaimed archbishop, John Okeke, 59, was, Tuesday, brought before a Lagos High Court in Igbosere for allegedly selling a land worth N7 million belonging to someone else.
Okeke, founder of God’s Pentecostal Ministry World Wide, Iba, Lagos was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a nine-count bordering on stealing, forgery and impersonation.
At the resumed hearing, EFCC counsel, A.M. Ocholi, told the court that the trial could not go on due to absence of a witness (one Nurudeen Bello) who took his two-month-old baby to the hospital following complications.
