The Minsk "Agreement"

Already there is debate about who has "won" and who has "lost" in the Minsk talks.

The short answer is that as the German foreign minister Steinmeier correctly said there is no breakthrough but the Russians and the NAF have made progress.

One point needs to be explained or reiterated (since I have explained it already and many times).

The representatives of Kiev and the southeastern Ukrainian self-proclaimed republics have reached a preliminary agreement on ceasefire and arms withdrawal.  The government residence in the Voiskovsky Pereulok in Minsk, which hosts the meeting of the Ukraine-Russia-OSCE Trilateral Contact Group with representatives of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics in Minsk

The Great Silk Road

Ukrainian press is bewildered about the indecisiveness of President Yanukovych in foreign politics. Many months were spent on the preparations for the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU, and suddenly two weeks before he hit the brakes.

Protesters roam the streets looking to provoke clashes with authorities, and Yanukovych left for a visit with China. In Kiev there are clashes with protesters. Yanukovych, on the way back from China, met in Sochi with Russian President, and then flies to Malta... What does it all mean?
