Civil Defence Member in Police Custody Over Murder

A member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Assistant-Inspector Lasisi Kabir Iyanda, has been arrested and detained in Police custody over the brutal murder, on 27th June, 2014, of a 32-year-old Kamaldeen Muritala, an Islamic Religious Knowledge teacher attached to Titilope Islamic Comprehensive High School, Ejigbo, Osun State.

Traders, Residents Panic as ‘Explosion’ Rocks Enugu Market -This Day





An eleven-month-old baby was feared dead while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries, when an imaginary explosion occurred at the Eke Ozi market in Igboeze North local government area of Enugu state Friday.

The incident, which occurred at about 2:00pm few metres to the Divisional Police Headquarters at Ogrute, was suspected to be a bomb blast, making the market women and traders to scamper for safety.

5 Jail returnees nabbed again for robbery



The Special Anti Robbery Squad of the Lagos state police command have re-arrested five ex-inmates of Ikoyi Prisons while they were about to execute a robbery operation which they had planned while still in prison.

The men, Sikiru Adeyemi, Saheed Hakeem, Dosun Patrick, Razaq Olarenwaju, Jamiu Adeyemi, were arrested after a close monitoring by the police after they left prison.

The ring leader of gang, Sikiru Adeyemi,who claims to be a graduate of mass communication from the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro in Ogun state, had earlier been remanded at the Ikoyi prison for armed robbery but was later released on bail and placed on close watch on the instruction of the state police commissioner, Umaru Tanko. His arrest led to the arrest of the other members of the gang. Continue

Graphic Photo: Man Without Mouth To Undergo Corrective Surgery 56years After Wolf Attack



A man left with a disfigured mouth after wolf attack when he was a child is to receive corrective surgery 56 years later.  


Wu Xiuyou, 65, from Datang village in south-west China's mountainous Guizhou Province, was attacked by a wolf when he was 11.
The animal effectively ripped off his mouth and he was left disfigured and only able to eat liquid food.

A tiny plane carrying 6 American soldiers today July 18th crash landed on a highway outside Uganda's capital Kampala after running out of fuel. It'd to make a quick safe landing to prevent any disaster. Reports say the plane which took off from the Entebbe airport in Uganda was maneuvering to neighboring South Sudan when the aircraft was forced to reverse as a result of bad weather and then land on a highway after running out of fuel approximately 40 miles from the airport. Photo: 2 men arrested with corpse of 3-year-old girl in Aba



Two men, Jonathan Nwogu from Mgboko Umuola in Obingwa LGA of Abia state and Chibuike Anubuife from Ezeagu LGA of Enugu State were arrested by the Abia state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC while trying to bury the corpse of a 3 year old girl in an abandoned pit in Osisioma, near Aba on Wednesday July 16th, Vanguard reports. 
Parading the men before newsmen, the state commandant of the NSCDC, Andy Dateer, said the men were apprehended at Enyimba petrol station near Ariara International market, Aba as they tried to put the young girl's corpse in a sack for burial. A quarrel ensued between the men and another man who was to convey them to the point of burial in his car when men of the NSCDC, who were on a routine patrol around the city, saw them. Continue...

Men of the Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC have rescued over 20 young pregnant women in a baby factory it discovered at Umunkpeyi in Isiala Ngwa South LGA, following a tip off.

Parading the rescued women and some of the workers in the baby factory, the state commandant of NSCDC, Andy Dateer, said the baby factory is named Nma Charity and Motherless Babies’ Home,  and that the owner who is now at-large, brings in men to impregnate the girls. He said after delivery, the babies are sold, and the mothers paid peanuts.

Pastor Killed in Borno, whereabout of wife & children unknown



A pastor with the RCCG in Borno state, Pastor Taiwo Dokun was shot dead and butchered by Boko Haram men through the Monday July 14th attack on Dille village in Askira-Uba LGA of Borno state. The late pastor's wife and three students are feared to have been taken by the sect men who reportedly abducted many people on the afternoon of the attack. FIFA lifts ban on Nigeria



FIFA has lifted the ban on Nigeriaafter having a high court sitting in Jos sacked the President of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, Aminu Maigari and other board members. FIFA had frowned at the court ruling, stating that the move was a government interference in football activities which can be against its policy. FIFA then directed that the new court order reinstating Maigari and other NFF executives be obtained before it may lift the ban. The brand new court order reinstating the NFF President and other executives was obtained two days ago, Tuesday July 15th, hence the lifting of the ban today.  Maigari and his board will resume their duties tomorrow and stay there until next month's elections when they may be sacked through the ballot, consistent with FIFA's policies.

Russian Aviation Authorities Call on IAC to Investigate Malaysian Plane Crash in Ukraine



The crash of a Malaysia Airlines Boeing-777 in Ukraine should be investigated by the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) involving all the respective stakeholders, Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) said.
"We need to agree as soon as possible, so that the researchers, experts in plane crash investigation, IAC experts could examine the circumstances, collect the so-called black boxes, remove the dead bodies, identify the dead in the most appropriate place, so that the bodies can be given to the relatives for burial," Rosaviatsiya head Alexander Neradko said in an interview with Rossiya-24 television channel.
