It is my privilege to welcome all of you to the inaugural All Progressives Congress National Summit.

This is a historic day not only for the APC but also for our nation.

The work we begin today is the work that will build a New Nigeria.

FFK re-arraigned for alleged ₦100m money laundering



Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, was today March 6th re-arraigned for alleged N100 million money laundering. Premium Times reports that Fani-Kayode told a Federal High court in Lagos that he was not guilty of all 40 counts of money laundering instituted against him by EFCC
The trial judge, Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, fixed March 10, 17, 18 and 19 for the trial. The EFCC is accusing Mr. Fani-Kayode, who was also a former Minister of Culture and Tourism, of money laundering. The commission had amended its 47-count charge, totalling N230 million, to a 40-count charge of N100 million.
Today Mr. Fani-Kayode sat patiently in the dock because the court registrar slowly read out all of the 40 counts of money laundering against him. He responded “not guilty” to all of them.

Troops stop planned Boko Haram strike in Borno, eliminate 20 of them.



Boko Haram gunmen returned late last night to Mafa and Ajiri villages in Borno State to attack the villagers but this time they met their match. Soldiers guarding the villages and neighbouring ones opened fire on the insurgents, killing at least 20 of them. But instead of retreating, eye witnesses said the Boko Haram members came in their hundreds and engaged the military men in a gun battle.

Video: Pregnant mom runs mad, drives van filled with children into ocean



A pregnant South Carolina mom drove a van full of her young kids into the ocean on Tuesday March 4th hours after she was interrogated by police for behaving strangely and scaring her children.

Lifeguards at the beach rescued the woman, considered to be mentally disturbed, and her three children aged, 3, 9 and 10 from the ocean when they heard the children screaming from the back of the van.

FG Shutdown Federal Government Colleges in Yobe, Borno, Adamawa.



Following the killing of over 40 students of the Federal Government College in Yobe State by Boko Haram members, the Federal Government has shut five FG colleges in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa 
The schools that were shut down are:
*Federal Government Girls College, Munguno
*Federal Science and Technical College, Lassa in Borno
*Federal Government College, Potiskum
*Federal Government College, Buni Yadi in Yobe
*Federal Science and Technical College, Michika, Adamawa.

US Government freezes $458million Ex-Leader, Late Sani Abacha cash



The United States government today March 5th said it had ordered a freeze on $458 million in assets hidden in European accounts by former Nigerian dictator Sani Abacha and his conspirators.

PM News reports that the Justice Department said the corruption proceeds, stashed away in bank accounts in Britain, France and Jersey, were frozen at Washington’s request with the help of local authorities.
Abacha died in office in 1998, but his surviving relatives still include some of the richest and most influential figures in Nigeria.

Man to have his eyes gouged out, Ear & nose removed for tossing acid in girl's face



 An Iranian man has been sentenced to having his eyes gouged out, his right ear and nose cut off as punishment for throwing acid in the face of a young girl causing her to lose her eyesight, right ear and nose, an Iranian court has ruled.

Haaretz.com reports that the man was convicted in October 2013 of intentionally attacking the girl after a love gone sour. Iran's high court wants the body parts the victim lost during the vicious attack to be removed from the perpetrator's body as payback and have defended their decision.

Couple caught in Abeokuta for apparently fighting bare in public areas



A man and his wife were today Wednesday March 5th arraigned in an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court  sitting at Isabo for allegedly fighting nude in public over alleged infidelity.

The accused, Kehinde Soetan, 37,  and Aderinsola Lawal, 28, were arraigned for  breach of public peace. The duo, however,  pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Police  Prosecutor, Augustine Ozimini, said that the offence was committed on Tuesday  at 2.30 p.m. at Obada Oko area of  Abeokuta. He alleged  that the couple fought and tore  their clothes in public.

9 Murdered in midnight attack on Riyom, Plateau



The Police in Plateau said 9 persons were killed on Tuesday night attack on Angwan-Waran in Riyom Local Government of the State. Mr Chris Olakpe, the Commissioner of Police in Plateau, in Jos on Wednesday said that the attackers had fled the area before the arrival of security agents.

He said the police and other personnel of the Special Task Force (STF) maintaining the peace in Plateau, had stepped in and restored normalcy to the area. Continue...

LASU Fresh Students Matriculate March 28



Lagos State University [LASU] senate has announced that the newly admitted students for 2013/2014 academic session are expected to resume for their screening exercises from Monday, March 10 – Thursday, March 13, 2014, while their matriculation has been slated for Friday, March 28, 2014.

The Resumption schedule approved in phase by the senate of the University for the re-opening of the institution, has the registration of the fresh students confirmed for Monday, March 17, 2014.

Pres. Jonathan also swore-in 11 new ministers and assigned them ministries. The ministers are:

Spoilt 18 year old sues parents to support her after she ran away




An 18-year-old girl Rachel Canning is suing her parents for support claiming she was abandoned by them after she turned 18. She also claimed her parents were behind her bulimia and that her father showed her 'inappropriate affection', UK Daily Mail reports
Rachel Canning (left) turned up to Morris County Court, New Jersey, yesterday dressed in her school uniform and pearls for the first hearing in her sensational case against her parents (right) who she claimed 'abandoned' her and owe her money. But her hopes were dampened when Judge Peter Bogaard read an expletive-laden and vicious answerphone message left by Rachel, from Lincoln Park, New Jersey, to her mother, Elizabeth, and said: 'Have you ever in your experience seen such gross disrespect for a parent? I don't see it in my house.'

Impressive and intimidating as they are, the huge construction site which Ogun State is as of now triggers some yet-to-be-answered questions. .

We made up some 25yrs ago and since then we have built an unusual bond. He developed great respect for my struggles, consistency and focus.
