For the fourth time in the space of 10 years Femi Kuti has been nominated for the Grammy Awards.
The Nigerian Afrobeat singer and saxophonist has been nominated in the ‘World Music‘ category for his 2013 ‘No Place For My Dream‘ album released under Knitting Factory Records.
Others in the category include French group Gipsy Kings, SA male choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Indian musician Ravi Shankar.
In 2003, Kuti picked up his first Grammy Award nomination but lost out to Panamanian salsa singer Rubén Blades. He similarly lost in 2010 when he was nominated in the same category. US banjo player Bela Fleck walked away with the award.

A 26-year-old man, Olaiya Ibeun, has been paraded by the Kogi State Police Command for allegedly sending insulting texts to the state deputy governor, Mr Yomi Awoniyi.
Parading the suspect yesterday, the state Commissioner of Police Mr Saidu Madawaki said the suspect also sent an identical message to the Chairman of Mopa-Muro Local Government Area Mr Funsho Daniyan and Mr Eric Fiki, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Affairs.

Seun Kuti, confessed to ‘Rubbin Minds with Ebuka’ on Y!TV, that the music maestro and his mother both died from the dreaded disease despite denials by family members when Fela died in 1997. It was actually HIV/AIDS that killed him.
