Oyocracy- Nigeria’s New Order

It seems Adolf Hitler was right after all. Those who champion the cause of revolution and lead men, are not men of letters but orators. Humans tend to respond more to emotion and expression than some coalition of alphabets written in ink. From Winston Churchill to Frederick Douglass, Cicero, Kwame Nkrumah, Nelson Mandela, Barack Obama, Nnamdi Azikiwe , Tafawa Balewa to mention but a few, the power of an orator is not in doubt . Humans buy into great speech no matter the motive behind it and with a good delivery spiced with some dramatic acts, telling someone to jump off a cliff has never been easier.

2015: Why Jonathan may lose as an incumbent

For those who are upbeat about the chances of the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan winning re-election if he decides to run, I have bad news for them. The President may not only lose in 2015, he could lose by a landslide even with the incumbency factor perceived to be in his favour. Let’s even consider a massive defeat of an incumbent impossibility; he could still be edged out by a narrow margin. Indeed all evidence point to the first shocking defeat of an incumbent in a presidential election in the country. For the first time ever, it seems the incumbency effect may not matter. While I acknowledge the usual arguments about the incumbent advantage; 2015 may yet prove to be an exception.

Asari-Dokubo took part in $9.3m arms scandal –APC

The All Progressives Congress says ex-militant, Alhaji Mujaheed Dokubo-Asari, was involved in the $9.3m arms deal which led to the arrest of two Nigerians and an Israeli in South Africa.

The party, therefore, asked President Goodluck Jonathan to explain to Nigerians what Dokubo-Asari was doing on the plane where the money was found and confiscated by the South African authorities.

Presidency slams RichestLifeStyle Website, threatens Author with libel, defamation

Presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati just released this statement:

We have noted with consternation the listing of President  Goodluck Ebele Jonathan by a website – RichestLifestyle.com - as the sixth richest African President with an estimated net worth of $100 Million U.S. Dollars.

The Presidency condemns the totally unwarranted inclusion of President Jonathan in the publication titled “Africa’s Richest Presidents 2014” as another attempt to unjustifiablyportray the President as a corrupt leader and incite public disaffection against him. We categorically assert that there is no factual basis for ranking President Jonathan as the sixth richest African Head of State with a net worth of about $100 Million U.S. Dollars.   As is well known, President Jonathan has ever been a businessman or entrepreneur, but a life-long public servant.

#VictoryForNigeria: Call For Court Martial Of Army Chiefs

We stand by the brave men of the nation’s army any day and every day. Our prayers are with them and their families. Indeed these men at the battlefront are the only remaining vestiges of patriotism in this nation. They are making the ultimate sacrifice and losing their lives fighting a war created by free roaming Nigerian politicians, military Chiefs and friends of the Presidency. What greater sacrifice can a man make than to fight and die to protect the masses while the ruling Cabal associate with the sponsors of the enemy and regard them as their “siblings,” as President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan did to the dismay of Nigerians and international observers.

Commanders-in-chief: From 1960 To Date

Nigeria became an independent nation on 1 October, 1960 and a republican country three years later and it was then we began having a Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces starting with Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe who was the ceremonial Head of State. It was only during the First Republic when the office was separated from that of the Prime Minister or the President. Alhaji Tafawa Balewa was the only Head of the Government who was not the Commander-in-Chief because we were practising the Parliamentary System of Government imposed by the British government.

Lack of unity cause of Nigeria’s problems – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday said most of the problems facing the country had been persisting because Nigerians lacked the needed unity to confront them.

He said if citizens had confronted the challenges in the same manner they confronted the Ebola Virus Disease recently, they would have become things of the past.

Jonathan spoke at the 54th Independence Anniversary Interdenominational Service held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.

APC faults INEC’s position on early campaigns

The All Progressives Congress has slammed INEC for acting too little, too late by issuing a warning on illegal public political broadcast and campaign, saying INEC’s belated action is highly suspicious.
In a statement issued in London on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said INEC’s action, coming after the PDP and President Goodluck Jonathan have been campaigning endlessly for the 2015 elections, can only be to the disadvantage of other candidates and political parties.
”Is it a ploy by INEC to give undue advantage to the PDP and its adopted sole presidential candidate, President Jonathan, in next year’s elections?” it queried
