Ikeja LG Educates Pupils on choosing the right Career Path



The Ikeja Local Government Area Council has taken steps to guide youths on the right career path by offering career development services, in form of counseling, to primary schools pupils in the region in line with the vision of the State government to provide a strong foundation for academic success and a prosperous future for the youths.

Hon. Wale Odunlami, Chairman of the Ikeja Local Government, speaking during the event which kicked off on Wednesday, at the Council Secretariat, stated that the counseling intervention is essential not only as a tool to inculcate balanced knowledge into the young minds of the pupils, but to also help them develop self-assessment and self-awareness to help themselves.

The Chairman, who was represented by the District Head of Education Department, Dr. kemi Adefowakan, stressed the importance of early and careful systematic assistance to ensure that pupils in the area are guided on the right path to a secure brighter future.

Odunlami, who pledged to make the interactive career talk an annual event, urged the pupils to improve their study habits by making good use of their time and reading vastly.

The resource persons invited to the event also advised the pupils to be disciplined and maintain a personal reading timetable while cautioning that bad influences would derail their future ambition.

Schools that participated in the programme include Anifowoshe Primary School, Tokunbo Alli Primary School and Onilekere Junior High School all in Ikeja Local Government Area.
