Rapper Kanye West has denied reports that he compared himself to Nelson Mandela. In a series of tweets, Kanye has explained how he was misquoted and set the record straight over his supposed comments.
The Daily Currant had run a ‘fake’ interview with Kanye, where they quoted him as saying ‘I liberate minds with my music. That’s more important than liberating a few people from apartheid or whatever.’

It wasn’t me: Kanye West has taken to Twitter denying that he compared himself to Nelson Mandela
Taking to Twitter, Kanye wrote: ‘Despite recent media reports, I’ve never said anything to dishonor or trivialize the life or transition of one of the most inspiring leaders’.
Adding: ‘At a young age my mother taught me the importance of his work. Mandela sacrificed his life for the betterment of mankind.’
Kanye wasn’t the only celebrity to be the subject of a hoax, playing on their personality.

Denying: Kanye took to Twitter in a series of tweets, and commented: ‘Respect to Mandela, his family and his legacy.’

Tribute: Kanye explained he would never say anything to ‘dishonor or trivialize’ the inspiring leader Nelson Mandela. Paris Hilton, who is prone to making gaffes on Twitter, hit back when a fake tweet that had been digitally altered started doing the round on the internet.
The tweet suggested that Paris Hilton had gone Nelson Mandela confused with Martin Luther King, paying tribute to his ‘I have A Dream’ speech.
Paris hit back on Twitter herself, saying: ‘Just landed & heard the sad new about Nelson Mandela. He was a true Hero & the world is a better place because of him. May he rest in peace. (sic)’.
Adding: ‘Whoever made that stupid fake tweet lacks respect to the loss the world is mourning right now. Same goes for all the blogs who ran with it.’
