Following the death of Muammar Gaddafi then-US State Secretary Hillary Clinton jokingly said: "We came, we saw, he died." However, now amid the massive migrant crisis in Europe, Washington would unlikely react the same way if Syrian President Bashar Assad repeats the Libyan leader's fate, author Brian Cloughley believes.

The US invasion in Iraq, as well as NATO-led airstrikes in Libya and support of the so-called Syrian moderate rebels have backfired. Not so much on Washington, but its ally Europe, which is suffering from the largest migrant crisis since World War II, with hundreds of thousands fleeing violence in war-torn regions in the Middle East and North Africa, author and expert in political and military affairs Brian Cloughley noted. According to Brian Cloughley, the US war in Iraq has displaced about 1 in 25 Iraqi citizens, while the violent expansion of the ISIL jihadist group contributed to more Iraqis fleeing their homes.

U.S. Contractor Killed in Bulgaria during Syrian Rebel Training Scheme

A U.S. defense contractor killed in a blast in Bulgaria last week was working for a program to train and equip Syrian rebels fighting against Islamic State, U.S. officials said Wednesday.

The American died when a rocket-propelled grenade misfired at a military range in Anevo in central Bulgaria on Saturday.

Introduction: 
By any measure 2014 has been a truly historic year which saw huge, I would say, even tectonic developments. This year ends in very high instability, and the future looks hard to guess. I don't think that anybody can confidently predict what might happen next year. So what I propose to do today is something far more modest. I want to look into some of the key events of 2014 and think of them as vectors with a specific direction and magnitude. I want to look in which direction a number of key actors (countries) "moved" this year and with what degree of intensity. Then I want to see whether it is likely that they will change course or determination. Then adding up all the "vectors" of these key actors (countries) I want to make a calculation and see what resulting vector we will obtain for the next year. Considering the large number of "unknown unknowns" (to quote Rumsfeld) this exercise will not result in any kind of real prediction, but my hope is that it will prove a useful analytical reference.

US Crackdown on ‘Yahoo boys’ In Canada, USA & South Africa

The United States has dealt a major crackdown on Nigeria’s Yahoo gang, with arrests of 16 people in several US cities, Canada and South Africa.   Most of the people arrested were Nigerians.  The suspects were arrested on charges that they took part in a fraud that used stolen information to get money and goods and then ship them to South Africa and Nigeria, according to documents unsealed in federal court in Gulfport, Mississippi Tuesday.

China confirmed incident between a Chinese naval vessel and a U.S. warship in the South China Sea

BEIJING (Reuters) – China on Wednesday confirmed an incident between a Chinese naval vessel and a U.S. warship in the South China Sea, after Washington said a U.S. guided missile cruiser had avoided a collision with a Chinese warship maneuvering nearby.

Experts have said the near-miss between the USS Cowpens and a Chinese warship operating near China’s only aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, was the most significant U.S.-China maritime incident in the disputed South China Sea since 2009.

China’s Defense Ministry said the Chinese naval vessel was conducting “normal patrols” when the two vessels “met”.

A couple weeks after a young Nigerian woman was found dead in her home in Columbus, Indiana, another Nigerian has been found dead in his home. 57 year old Benjamin Chibuogwu from Awka in Anambra state was found dead in his home in Lowell, Massachusetts on Saturday December 7th.

Speaking to thousands of supporters in Chinhoyi, the 89-year-old also rejectedcalls for reform of partisan security forces, saying his main rival, Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, could make changes if he won.

“In America they are saying Zimbabwe has gone for an early election without reforms. Americans must be mad and absolutely insane,” Mugabe said in an address that last more than two and a half hours, confounding speculation his health is failing.

Obafemi Martins Relocates to Seattle, USA

After living and playing in Europe all his life, Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins has moved to the US. Obafemi, who now plays for the American Soccer League, moved to Seattle on the 16th of March. He signed a contract with Seattle Sounders FC this month but the terms of contract were not disclosed, per Major League Soccer and the team policy. He actually left Nigeria last night after playing for the Super Eagles this last weekend

Martins was living with his pregnant girlfriend Abigail Barwuah in Spain but she had to move back to Italy when he moved to Seattle. I hear she will join him in the US after giving birth. Abigail is in her last trimester.
