Check out ways to prevent kidney Failure

How can you prevent kidney disease? This is one question making the rounds  following the 1st successful kidney transplant surgery at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, DELSUTH, Oghara, Delta State.
Now, more than ever, Nigerians are becoming more conscious about protecting and preserving their kidneys. Every year, several Nigerians suffer kidney problems and thousands die or require regual dialysis or kidney transplants.  Factors ranging from bad diet choices and habits like smoking and obesity, among others are linked to an increased risk for kidney disease.

The Man who hasn't had a bath in over 6 decades.

This Iranian man you see above hasn't had a shower for 60 years. Daily Mail reports that 80 year old Iranian Amou Haji hasn't washed for 60 years because he believes being clean will make him sick, and his favourite food is rotten porcupine.
To relax he likes to sit down and have a smoke, from a pipe packed with animal faeces. Mr Haji says he chose this way of life after going through some emotional setbacks in his youth and since then - perhaps unsurprisingly - he has become a bit isolated. His home is in Dejgah village in the southern province of Fars in Iran where, once, a group of young men offered to give him a shower - but luckily he managed to escape. At night he either sleeps in a hole in the ground, which is quite like a grave, or in an open brick shack which concerned locals built for him. Continue after the break

As news of the controversial law banning same-sex marriage continues to create headlines worldwide after it was signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan, the renowned spiritual head of the Synagogue church in Lagos, Prophet TB Joshua has spoken out on the contentious issue.

“Judge not, so that you will not be judged,” Joshua began, citing Matthew 7:1 for Scriptural backing. “We should talk to people to be saved and not to die. I mean, we should talk salvation, not condemnation. The Bible is my standard.”

Asian anti-Black racism at an embassy in Nigeria

Anti-Black racism from Arabs is nothing new, but anti-Black racism from East and South-East Asians is not what most Nigerians expect. For an Asian to call us "monkeys" is beyond preposterous. For Asians to shout and yell at us, even to the point of physically assaulting a woman in her 40s is unbelievable. As you may be aware, Nigerians thrive on respect, as do Asians. Older people, Asian and African, command respect, yet to my non-Nigerian colleagues this does not translate across nationalities. I see that they have respect for each other, but literally zero, zilch, none, for older Nigerian staff. I know a bit of the language, so I can understand when they are insulting us in our presence, calling us "bastards."

Action Speaks: 168 arrested for just being gay in north Nigeria

Dorothy Aken'Ova is executive director of Nigeria's International Center for Reproductive Health and Sexual Rights. She said Tuesday the new law, already being dubbed the "Jail the Gays" law, will endanger and even criminalize programs fighting HIV-AIDS in the gay community.
