History was made today August 20th in Lagos state as Hon. Justice Oluwafunmilayo Olajumoke Atilade (pictured centre), the younger sister of the immediate past Chief Judge of the state, Justice Ayotunde Philips (left) who retired in July, was sworn in as the new Chief Judge of Lagos state by Gov Babatunde Fashola at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Lagos state Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
This is the first time in the history of the state judiciary siblings will succeed each other as Chief Judge of the state. Continue...

Former FCT Minister and Chieftain of the APC Nasir El Rufai says he will simply consider defecting to the PDP when Satan repents and converts Islam...and not really then. He explained this in question from a concerned twitter follower. This is showing up in the wake of the defection of his friend Nuhu Ribadu who recently defected to the PDP.
Ebola: Lagos records 5 new suspected cases.
The Lagos State government has announced that 5 new suspected cases of Ebola virus have already been recorded at the Yaba Isolation Centre. The state Commissioner for health, Dr Jide Idris made this known today while addressing journalists. Dr Idris stated that two of the five new cases were from secondary contacts and that 213 people are now observed
"Till date, we have recorded eight suspected cases, five of which came in yesterday August 19th, 12 confirmed. On the whole, five have died (including the index case). We are currently following up 213 contacts, and 62 have completed the two-day follow-up,” Dr Jide saidContinue..
Ebola: Fiancé of late nurse, Obi Ejelonu, admitted to hospital with suspected higher fever case
Base on Sahara Reporters, the fiancé of Obi Ejelonu, the nurse who died of the Ebola virus after being infected by Patrick Sawyer, is suspected to have contracted the Ebola virus from his late fiance. The suspected patient, whose name was given as "Dennis", allegedly endured a higher fever three days ago but said he'd recovered, SR reports. He's since been admitted in the hospital. A new blood test has been ordered, with results expected tomorrow.
A morgue worker Admits sleeping with 100 Corpses
Kenneth Douglas, from the city of Hamilton, Ohio, was nabbed, charged and sentenced to 36 months in prison in 2008 after DNA from his semen was found inside the body of murder victim, 19-year-old Karen Range.
The crime only stumbled on light after Range's murderer David Steffen appealed his conviction for murder and rape. He admitted killing Range but denied defiling her.

Ebola Update: NNPC Doctor Tested Positive to Ebola
A government source reveals to Sahara Reporters a medical doctor at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) clinic in Lagos, has developed Ebola symptoms. The doctor was allegedly among the doctors who treated Patrick Sawyer. The suspected victim who's considered to be a female is said to have been previously treated and discharged, but was later brought back into quarantine to be observed and retested.

Another Liberian reportedly certified with the Ebola Virus In Lagos
According to CKN programme, a Senior Registrar with Igbobi Orthopaedic hospital, Lagos, Dr Akindele Akintayo revealed today on a TV programme that another Liberian have already been detected with the deadly Ebola virus in Nigeria.
Dr. Akintayo said on the programme that the Liberian has been kept at the IDH in Lagos and couldn't confirm if the newest case had a connection with late Mr Sawyer or not. More with this later...

Law Enforcers Open Fire on Protesters in Ferguson – Demonstrator
“I’ve been here since day one. We have peaceful protesters, who are standing on a line. If you cross that line, you will be shot dead. These are peaceful protesters saying don’t shoot, with their hands up, and the police shot into the crowd and fired tear gas,” Lyn told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

Ebola: 17 individuals who escaped from isolation zone in Liberia discovered
The 17 patients who escaped from the Ebola Isolation Centre in Liberia after some youths attacked the guts on Saturday August 16th, have thankfully been found. The development was made known by way of a Liberian Minister this afternoon.
The isolation ward was attacked by armed men wielding sticks and shouting -'There's no Ebola'

Arrest of Reporters in Ferguson Violates First Amendment - Freedom of the Press Foundation
Arresting members of the press, covering the protests in Ferguson over the police killing of an unarmed black teenager is a gross violation of the right to free speech, the Freedom of the Press Foundation said.
“It should go without saying that these arrests are a gross violation of the reporters' First Amendment rights, and attempts to prevent journalists from lawfully doing their job on the streets of Ferguson are downright illegal,” a representative of the organization Runa Sandvik said in a press release on Tuesday.

UN Chief Calls for Immediate Understanding As Gaza Ceasefire Collapses
UNITED NATIONS, August 20 (RIA Novosti) - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned the disruption of the most recent temporary ceasefire in Gaza.
“[Ban Ki-moon] condemns in the strongest terms the breach of the Egyptian brokered humanitarian ceasefire which was to expire at midnight local time,” the statement by the UN chief said Tuesday adding that Ban “is gravely disappointed by the return to hostilities.”

IS Militants Behead US Journalist Taken Captive in 2012 – Reports
Islamic State insurgents released a video yesterday Tuesday August 19th purportedly showing the beheading of U.S. journalist James Foley (pictured above), who had gone missing in Syria nearly two years ago, and images of another U.S. journalist whose life they said depended on U.S. action in Iraq.
The video, titled "A Message To America," was posted on social media sites. It was not immediately possible to verify its authenticity.

Police Shoot Dead Another Young Black Man in Missouri as Protests Continue in Ferguson
Police officers in the US State of Missouri fatally shot a 23-year-old black man just about ten days after the police killing of black teenager Michael Brown in the St. Louis area, St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon just several miles south of the city of Ferguson, where the shooting of 18-year-old Brown has triggered a wave of mass protests and riots.
