Court declares FRSC’s new number plates illegal



The new number plates introduced by the Federal Road Safety Commission, is unconstitutional, a Federal High Court in Lagos said today Wednesday March 26th.

Delivering judgment in a suit filed by Emmanuel Ofoegbu, a lawyer, against the FRSC, the judge said that it was unlawful for the commission to impose the new number plates on Nigerians, where no existing law permitted it.
“The issue of redesigning new number plates by the respondent, is not covered under the provisions of any law in Nigeria,” said James Tsoho, the judge.

Woman nabbed with human tongue, weapons in Ibadan



A  man feigning to be mad was apprehended yesterday along Ring Road in Ibadan town by residents of the area who found human tongue and dangerous weapons on him.
Vanguard reports that his evil act was exposed when his hidden blackberry phone suddenly rang in public which aroused suspicion. He was immediately surrounded and searched. They allegedly found the human tongue, a cutlass and axe on him. The mob that gathered had attempted to carry out jungle justice on him but for the timely intervention of the police, who took him away.

(Reuters)President Obama is on the receiving end of scorn for remarks made during a high-profile speech in Brussels on Wednesday in which he defended the U.S. invasion of Iraq in an attempt to chastise Russia for recent developments in Crimea and Ukraine.
Speaking to the international community about the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and fending off repeated accusations that the U.S. has lost its moral authority given the invasion of Iraq and other breaches of international law in recent years, Obama said:


Russia has pointed to America’s decision to go into Iraq as an example of Western hypocrisy. Now, it is true that the Iraq war was a subject of vigorous debate, not just around the world but in the United States, as well. I participated in that debate, and I opposed our military intervention there.

Police Officer Kills Wife, Self, Seven Others In Ogun (Pics)



 Eight people have been killed in cold blood by  a police officer, Corporal Sunkanmi Ogunbiyi, attached to the Ogun State Police Command. The corporal, who killed himself afterwards, also shot  three others who have sustained different degrees of injuries in the early hours of Thursday.The incident was said to have occurred after the late police corporal picked a quarrel with his wife, who was also a corporal at the same command, over the audacity of the land lady to harbour his wife.

Judge nullifies collection of toll on Lekki-Ikoyi connection



According to a report by Sahara Reporters, a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, today nullified the collection of any toll or tariff on the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge.

Ruling on the suit, which was filed by human rights lawyer, Ebun Adegboruwa, presiding judge, Justice Saidu, J. held that the power of control over all navigable waterways in Nigeria resides in the Federal Government, and not any state government.
